Door Hinge wearing out?

Any one experiencing their driver or any other door hinge seeming like it's not lined up so well anymore. I can feel distinct play in the hinge by pulling up on the door. Guess I should have been lubing the hinges more frequently and more severely...

Car has only 85000 miles, 2000 SE.

Any remedies? Hinge replacement - probably expensive. I guess I'll just lube it like crazy from now on to keep it from getting worse.

My door has also been sagging for a while. Anyone know of an easy fix?

Often time the only effective fix if adjusting the striker plate doesn't work is to replace the hinges. In extreme cases the bolt holes for the hinges can warp, also causing sagging. My last ride suffered from this malady due to the heavy, long doors ('95 Camaro.)

^^^ What he said plus, never, ever let anyone rest on the doors when the are open. No "cool looking dude/chick" will slouch over my car's open doors.

that's some good info. did you get the sheet from the nissan factory service manual? I'm thinking of getting one of those "copies" from ebay.

My Maxima Door

Hey
I read this post and thought that by doing the washer thing it would throw the door out of alignment, but I didn't want to go through the pin kit process (I heard that it's a real pain in the butt). Didn't have anything to lose by trying it and it worked perfectly, so Thanks. One less little agrevation in my life.

Dave

Yea, I can put some small washers on the bottom hinge on the door side to space it back up a bit or adjsting the striker plate.. Wow, a 2004 post... and now 8 years later, I still haven't fixed it and it has only gotten a little worse but not much worse. But I still have the car!
