2k2 heater controls w/ Navigation

this is just a heads up to all of you LUCKY folks that own any 2k2 or 2k3 maximas with naviagtion. I had two buttons fall out of the heater control unit, the ECON and the AUTO button broke off inside the panel. Took it to the local Dealer, and the service writer tells me that they have to replace that whole segment of the dash. (I.E. The heater, the Lcd the HVAC controls and buttons.) to all those who want to know the amount, it totals about $3700. The service writer told me that "Its not usually a warranty part" the car has 31 and some change on it, still under Nissan's 36K bumper to bumper. But now i am waiting to get "Approval" from Nissan's Warranty department. Anyways sorry this is so long but i just wanted everyone to know that has the same options as me that beware, cause a button could end up costing you $3700.

Sounds like the dealer is screwing you.

Contact Dave B and see what he says. Look him up in the member directory. Dave B not DaveB.

i think what tomz was saying is that they are "between the bumpers", meaning its covered in the bumper to bumper warranty, and the dealer is tryin to give you the shaft. hopefully nissan will be able to help you out.

Sorry for the misunderstanding... I was just implying that you should *DEFINITELY* fight this...

this happened on my mom's 2k max also, but she doesnt have the nav, she just has the ATC. The heat button work and now the A/C is stuck on freakin 60 degrees which sucks in winters, but the dealer wants 800 dollars for the whole new unit, they cant just replace the button...seems pretty stupid to me

It seems to me all that you need to do is the following:

(1) Remove he HVAC unit
(2) Pop the tabs on the HVAC faceplate
(3) Reglue the buttons
(4) Repop the buttons on
(5) Put your fixed HVAC unit in!

Assuming that the controls work, it seems that this is all you need to do!
