SE Stalling when coming off high revs

Howdy all,

My wife's 2000 Maxima SE occasionally stalls when coming down from high revs. I notice that even when it doesn't stall, the tach shows the engine dropping below 500 RPM and then quickly raising again to ~ 800 - 1K RPM.

The dealer has no clue of what's happening.

Suggestions???

Then I noticed it only happens with the A/C off (I use the A/C most of the time here in Florida). I just figured that my ECU needed to be reprogrammed. My solution -- turn A/C back on. Hasn't stalled since.

All of you try cleaning the throttle body.

It's not a TB issue or anything, just a plain old low idle condition. I had this exact same problem a couple of years ago. Driving down a highway, doing 70-80-90 in 5th, clutch in, neutral, clutch out, 1-2 seconds later stall. This happened more often when I was doing 70-80-90 in 4th or 3rd and dropped to neutral.

At one point I went to the dealer and I noticed that my idle was a bit high, 750 vs. 600. Since that point I have never had a problem. Bounce off the rev-limiter in 3rd (mucho-fun!) in to neutral, no stall, never, never ever seen it.

I think it was a simple idle adjustment and not an ECU flash. I have always had, and still to this day have, the infamous cold engine - 1600 RPM blip (choke, chug, skip...)

No he didn't.
What do your RPM's peak at when you start your car? Do you consider that a high idle problem? When you car is about to die it corrects itself by giving it a little more gas making it jump to 800-1000 before settling back down to normal ~650 RPM idle.

Ok, this is what happened....

The idle was low (600).
I was having the problem.
Went to the dealer for something or other, not this problem. (Fuel level sender I think, or sunroof motor)
Noticed that my idle was now higher (700-750).
Figure the dealer either flashed the ECU or more likely just did an idle adjustment.
Never had the problem since.

Clear now?

Guys, is there a way to adjust idle on 2000 SE without consult / going to a dealer?

i have the same exact problem and i have heard that its the ignition coils that sit above the spark plugs.
Let me know if anyone has changed their ignition coils and had this problem go away.
