Dat Seafom chit is good stuff...

So, yesterday late afternoon, after three hours of rest and ice paks & all that (wisdom teeth pulled), my son (who is spending the week with us, visiting from LA) and I spent a coupla hours working on his immaculate 1991 Prelude Si -the 2.1 liter model, still running perfectly after 203k miles.

We replaced the air filter, removed & cleaned the TB, did not one but two cans of Seafom thru one of the vacuum lines , replaced the plugs with NGK Platinums and changed the oil after running the Seafom thru the car and lemme tell ya, that stuff is awesome: before the Seafom, the car was just slighly pinging going up hills at low-to-medium RPMs in 4th and 5th, after the Seafom, no pinging whatosever.

Yes, it could be that the new plugs (which are platinum) are running a wee bit cooler than the prior plugs but...it also wery well could be that the Seafom actually did decarbonize the pistons, etc., to the point that it eliminated hot spots that would contribute to pinging.

After we ran the second can thru it, it took no less than eight miles of hard driving to get the car to stop smoking from all the crap the Seafom was dissolving and purging.....I'm sold!

I tried the seafoam. It smoked the ell out of the neighborhood. Not sure whether the smoke was the result of burning crud loosened by the seafoam or whether the smoke was the seafoam burning. Regardless, it pissed-off the neighbors and that was worth the $5 for the stuff. ROCK ON SEAFOAM!!

I tried a can in my 95 KingCab. I did not notice any difference at all. I'm glad that somebody got good results from using it.

Hey, Blues....how goes it, man? Happy New Year!
Ahh.....me no trying no Seafoam on Max yet. I cleaned the TB a few months ago when I was playing with the intake manifold restrictor that's on the '00s and '01 and it was so clean (remember, only 28k miles on my car) that I cant see how the Seafoam would do any good yet....I'll prolly gonna wait until it gets closer to 35-40k miles...

Goin' pretty well....Happy New Year to you too. It's been a great Holiday Season for me.

I'll probably do the Seafoam thing in the early spring. I'll have a bit under 35,000 miles by then. And it will coincide with my next oil change.

I didnt notice a difference after using it. Some smoke came out, but after that the thrill was gone. Oh well. How often is it supposed to be done anyways?

make sure the motor has been run for a while before using the brake booster method. dont just let it run up to operating temp from being cold all night and drop it in. the can says its safe to use every 3-5k miles so i guess they are figuring every oil change. i used it for the first time @ 56k last week and had what i would consider a good bit of smoke. even when it seemed to stop, it sat for a few hours and i started it back up to find it still had a good bit coming out.
