Are the Xenon bulbs really any better than the standard mag lite bulbs? Do they seem to drain the batteries faster?

Nope, you're not imagining. I have a 3D. The 4D seemed too long for just 1 clip, but a lot of guys have it.

2900 that has to be a typo. Who in the right mind would pay that much for a flashlight

nothing you have to worry about in FL - Snowbirds aren't known for causing a lot of crime... except maybe for slowing down traffic...

Bought a silver 2D today, just gotta find the clips now. I may take a swing by Home Depot tomorrow to try and find that package deal, then I can throw the second light in my trunk or soomething...

You plan on using your Maglite on a carjacker?

I keep mine in the trunk. It would look nicer mounted next to the seat since it almost matches my paint color.

One night my battery died because i forgot to turn something off.. well after finding someone to give me a jump start that light was a lifesaver as you couldn't see squat and the other vehicle's lights didn't help being pointed the other way.. not when you had to remove half its engine's covers to get to the battery and hook up the cables.

A great "mod" and i highly recommend it.

I used to work for an auto repo company. No tow truck was allowed to leave our garage without a Mag Lite. They're good, sturdy flashlights for illuminating VINs in dark apartment parking lots (so you know you're getting the right car), and they do make good self-defense tools (because people get crazy if you take their cars). I keep one in my Max, but I don't have those nice brackets. I use it for roadside emergencies. Change a tire at midnight with no lights, and you'll appreciate having a good strong flashlight around.
