Changing battery...

My battery is dieing and with the cold, it's having problems starting. What Ampere battery do we require (both crank and cold crank ampere)?
Any one have any suggestions to what batteries are good ( being in Canada, we dont have a big variety)...
Thanks

im sure any battery is good, with batteries i think the more they cost the better they are. if you want to be sure order an optima red top, or just pick up a generic battery at any auto parts store(make sure it fits your max)

The batteries Cold Craning Amps (CCA) is rated at 80 degress. At something like 40 degrees you're at only like 40% of your batteries compacity of CCA. I don't know what our CCA is, but for every cubic inch our engine is, you want to have that in CCA. Those optima batteries have high CCA.

I know this post wasn't too imformal, but it just lets you know that at lower temp, yeah your battery is a lot weaker. Plus if your battery is old, it's even worst.

just replace it with a battery tha has the same specs as the stock one. call your dealer to find out if not sure. Or, get a optima red top for a little better performing battery, or get an optima yellow top, (D35 is what i have) if you happen to have extra accessories installed. hope this helps.

normal cca is 500. do not drop below 500 cca, and you will be ok. BUT on the other hand, i had a 500 cca, and my batt died when it was very cold. so i gave in and got an optima red top. had 1000ca, and 800cca. plenty of power.

does too much Ampere ( or current) destroy anything. I asked the dealer and the OEM replacement has 675 cca...if i get the optima with 800cca..will it do any damage?

I just bought a few month ago battery in Canadian Tire Motomaster Eliminator Spiral Cell Starting Battery that are gel fill cells.I think that thise are the same as optima red topin US. The battery is:Cold Cranking Amps Up to 770,Cranking Amps Up to 1000,Reserve Capacity Up to 95 minutes, Free Replacement Period 3 years and Roadside Assistance and I've paid for them about $180 CND

also i found on my 5.5 when i replaced my battery, i had to reset the sunroof controls, The roof would only open 3 inchs at a time. The dealer said that it was in default mode, and they reprogrammed it in 2 mins. I have the reset instructions if you need it.
