brake pad question

the service advisor at the dealer told me that my rear brake pads need to be replaced soon...they told me the front brakes look fine. maybe i am not understanding what "electronic brake force distribution" means--i thought it sensed where the majority of the weight in the car is and applies the brakes accordingly. if this is correct, then why would only my rear pads need to be replaced? i rarely have passengers in the car, never have anything in the trunk and i usually do my driving from the front seat
please let me know what you think!!

Weird, I've read here a lot that this happens, and it's also happened to me, the rears went first.

if ur brakes pad go bad would it make like a scraping sound? mine sounds like something is stuck under my car. Kinda sounds like the ebrake is partly pulled. It is worse when its colder out. Is it the pads or could the rotors be warped?

the emergency brake is the rear brakes. have you been pulling it up on occasion for a little fun? my rear brake pads were gone @ about 53k. ive seen alot of people on here replace the rear before the front but my front went out @ about 30k.

I changed mine around 24000 with the rotors since they began to sqeek about 1000 miles earlier....I couldn't handle it.

OEM Pads and they seem to need replacing within the next 2000 miles (well the rear) I hate nissan brake calipers.

so would the noise be the rotors or the pads?

that's funny, it's both, it's the pad and the rotor together because it's not fully retracting the piston into the cylinder, essentially the pad is dragging on the rotor.

noooooo!! i have not been pulling my e-brake for fun!!! what if my e-brake wasn't releasing all the way when i take it off...would this make the pads wear out so soon? i mean, doesn't 19k seem kinda low for needing to do brakes?

At 19K and already making noise? Sounds like an issue with the caliper. Were I you (since you are still under bumper to bumper) I'd have the mechanic look at the calipers to make sure they aren't going bad. If they are, you can get the pads and calipers changed out on Nissan's dime.

I'm not surprise, with the rear going out first before the front. That's what I'm dealing with my car right now, it only have 37k miles on it.

hey guys,
i washed my car today and noticed i have rust on my rims. Im guessing its from the brakes because they already make noise. What would cause it to build up rust?

what you are seeing on the wheels is brake dust. if not removed/cleaned on a regular basis, it can eat away at the coating on most wheels. what you may have seen on the rotors will just brush away when you drive after washing the car.

WEll from experience, stock brake rotors suck, i bought my car with 20,000 miles already hving brake problems.. I noticed that the braking wasn't good enough, and my rears wore down faster than front. so i got aftermarket rotors brake pads and brake lines. Much much better than stock ...
