I am having a hard time finding a stock 2001 SE manual, did anyone go through the same ordeal? the dealer told me that since no one asks for them, the dealer does'nt order them.
(I am talking about the $21.7K SE)

Manuals can be tricky to locate... If you really want one, then you should wait for one instead of settling for an auto. However, in order to get one, you might have to be willing to take some extras too, especially since the 2001 run is probably nearing its end. Keep looking, or search online. Good luck

2002 Altima

Thanks, Have you guys seen the 2002 Altima? It looks good, specially the SE with 240 HP and 0-60 in 6.3 secs. Maybe I'll wait for that one.

When I went shopping for my SE, all I wanted was stock + auto + floor mats in Icelandic Pearl and black interior. It was very difficult to find. Most of the SE's at all the dealers I went to had either fully loaded versions or with the C&C package at least. I was really watching the price points at that time, so didn't want to spend too much. It took about a month, but in the end, I got the exact car I wanted.

Stock SE's are out there, but your dealer may need to order one in for you. If you commit to buying from that dealer, they may be more inclined to get it in.

What do you think about the new SE-R? It looks like an integra Killer...How about the Altima?

I think the Sentra SE-R will be hot. I like the newer exterior better than the older one. It will definately blow away any kind of Honda sport compact and Toyota doesn't even have anything to compete. The Integra is definately the closest target even though it's a Civic-based car and getting a little old. I know a lot of former Integra owners who are now older, wiser, and wealthier who have since moved up to the Lexus IS300...which is what Lexus wants anyway. That little Sentra SE-R is going to scream, that's for sure. If I get to replace my Civic one day, I would love it to be the SE-R.

The new Altima looks good too, and its specs, particularly for the sporty version, sound great.

You need to really consider what class of car you want to get. The Maxima and the 2002 Altima are in a different class than the Sentra SE-R. If you want a 'pocket rocket' then the SE-R should be considered. If you want a good performance sports sedan, it will be either the Altima or Maxima. How much do you want to spend and what are you going to do with the car? I always find that answering those questions first will help narrow down that long list you probably have.

Or just go to Canada where you have only two choices for the SE, auto or manual. (Not to mention we got the LSD in 2000! Ha Ha!).

Listen to punkdork, auto's just don't cut it. Do a search and you will find the auto / manual debate ad nauseum.

Agree 100% Don't settle for anything but what you want. You will just be lamenting... I could have had a manual. I wish I had 5 spd...

Why don't you go through www.carsdirect.com and let them track car and deliver to you. I did and did not worry of colors and combo's. The shipped car to my door from Georgia (live in Fl) and at dealers invoice. Not bad for an SE/AE when they were just being released !!! I even got the limited edition color w/ black leather versus frost.
