Engine Dress up/Sound deadening

Well I played around a bit with the VHT paint I bought for my calipers. Engine cover screws and battery tie down. I think the tie-down looks a bit cheesy in person.
Also, I finally got around to working on the rattles from my trunk.

Sound deadening.

This helped a ton. I can't begin to tell you. I was sceptial at first, but I was really surprised when I tested it out. Also, the install looks good, nothing hanging out or anything like that. The plastic screws were pretty tight to get back in. But that liner is really solid now.

No big. Yes I did exactly as you described. I took off the liner and used it to outline on the adhesive foam. Then I cut the foam to shape. It was very thick but with some elbow grease you can push down the liner over the foam and push in the plastic screws. They snap very snuggly into place.

The foam absorbs the sound and keeps it from hitting the trunk lid, mostly. It greatly reduces trunk rattling, which is a huge annoyance when listening to music. Also, I find it sh!tty to run around town with your trunk lid rattling like a mule.

I used a ruler of sorts, a moderately long wooden piece of wood, for the long strecthes. Otherwise, you have to free-hand some stuff. It wasn't that bad. Just plan it out.

Alot of deadeners are simply sheets of asphalt that serve to add additional weight to surfaces (i.e. - your trunk) and absorb noise. The heavier the item, the more resistant it becomes to movement due to vibration.

The foam was from my dad's work, they were going to trash it so I picked it up along with some other sheets. It is an industrial adhesive foam. It is thick, but doesn't weigh hardly anything.
