Optima D34A or D31A

D34 is a normal size battery
D31 is a competition battery, its huge, and weighs 62lbs.

thanks I brought a 34/78, but I can't get the positive battery cable terminal to reach to the post. It reaches fine on the negative side.

I just bought the 34 R with the reversed posts.... I still had to mangle the positive clamp anyway. The people at Optima and Remy suggested this battery.

Well i needed to straigten it to reach further across the top of battery. I used a sharp hand saw to cut the plastic on each side of the terminal. Then i put a large wrench with pliers..... and carfully placing them the metal parts of the clamp. Then i bent the connection to as to let it reach further across the top of battery. I will improve this soon by purchasing conectors to do it right. Also, the top of the fuse popped out and i never did find it (square fuse in connector) And i have some duct tape holding the red plastic cover on top of the battery. there is another memeber who had the same problem and heere is his comment to correct it

Since i contacted a group member who suggested the following:"I bought lead terminals that have a screw on one end and posts that screw on(not in). Then I put them together and used it as an extension for the battery." (nailz420)

good luck

Ps used a small piece of wood to make up the difference in the height of the batteries to tighten the battery clamp

35-75 is much more easy batter to work with ( fit like a glove with out any mod). The down side that it on have 720 CCA of cranking power, compare to 800CCA 34 battery. Usually the 35/75 is 20- 30 bucks cheaper.

You can buy a post extension or a terminal extension. They are like 4-6 bucks and take 5 minutes to install. Sears carries them

Batteries.com has free shipping on all their batteries including Optimas and there is a 10% off coupon which I used just last week, I think it's still good. I think the coupon code was "SS10", try that. I got my Red Top 34/78 for $117 shipped.

Well my friend and fellow Orger has a '95 and ran the 34/78 with no problems. Maybe the 5th gen battery tray is smaller. BTW, isn't it 25/75 not 35/75?
