Just bought mine for my birthday

I just JUST bought myself a nissan max 2001 for my birthday on jan 10th. I bought the car on the 4th..actually I checked out the car on the 3rd and brought it home for the night on the 3rd, then I went in on the 4th and bought the sucker. Well exactly a night later as I was backing out of my driveway my service engine light turns on. ARGH...I go to nissan dealership the next day and tell them about the problem, they tell me to make an appointment and they will check out the car, I go back on the friday, now remember the day I bought it was the tuesday. Well they run diagnostics or whatever and tell me that the O2 sensor is out cause someone put more expensive or crappier gas in the car, their gonna talk to the sales manager and let me know if they will pay for it. They decide to pay for it after giving me a quote of about 200 something bucks. Ok, I take the car cause they are booked up for the time being and between me bringing my car back to them on wednesday(fri-wednesday) I find more problems with the car. The car smells like an electrical fire when the defrost is on, the passanger window sticks (I forgot to tell them about that part), The car refuses to start UNLESS I press on the accelorator(which kills me to do that to the car!), and the cd player steering collum controls work when they find it convient... So on thursday the nissan place calls me back and tells me all the work will cost 700 something bucks almost 800. And I am the responsible one to pay that. OK..so time goes by, I bring family into the mix who knows a thing or two about cars, and they call me back saying.."ok, ok, we will pay for everything but 300 worth of repairs" I say ok like a goober... Then I talk to more family and they tell me that is crap..So my grandfather goes to the place and starts yelling LEMON! and all this other stuff, and needless to say they tell me they will keep my car while the parts are on order till tuesday, and they will see what they can do to "treat me right, and fix the car"

They gave me this 2004 Nissan sentra, omg! this car is tiny to toy around with in the meantime.

Ok so my decision is this, should I stick with the car I purchased or should I transfer the money I was approved for, for another car on the lot? either a newer used car or a new car all together, I just know I wont be able to get a maxima if I go that route and I REALLY love this car, just not all the extra problems with it. and besides that they are supposed to fix the car, and I JUST did a carfax report on it...NO damnage, or accidents, or repairs..EVER...this is a clean car according to them, 1 owner. I am paying 12, 500 for the car it will be 17 thousand something after it's said and done. I fricking LOVE this car, and I want it, but I just don't know, everyones telling me to get rid of it cause of all the mess right away as soon as I bought it, but I spoke to the dealership and they said they could work out a warranty for me that I actually said I didn't want when I first signed the papers. I figure, I get my car, they pay for the repairs, which they should have fixed before it went on their lot for sale, and then i get the extended warranty to cover my butt, which will prob cost me about 1 thou more...What do you guys think? This is actually my second maxima, my first one was a 86 model, I loved it but hated the costly repairs. so I sold it and got myself a 98 ranger, but I decided to buy a car for myself for my birthday and so here I am, not even 2 weeks later trying to decide where to go from here.

Let me know guys....

Never,

Dump the car. The car already proved that it has problems to begin with. If you are
into paying for miscellaneous repairs after owning it for few weeks keep the car.
Personally I dont' like to pay for repairs after owning a few weeks even if it's under
warranty. Most use cars should last you for a year or more before you start doing
some repairs. Good luck in whatever you...

OK, what's happening now...

The break down.

1-passanger window goes up and down slower than the other windows...(just told them about that today)
2-O2 sensor went out(check engine light)
3-Burnt/electrical fire smell when defrost was ran(c valve or something?)
4-Audio buttons work when they want to(master server)

Anyways like I said before so far around 1,000 of repairs, and it looks as if the dealer is willing to pay for all that to be fixed...

But I am also getting them to run a full diagnostic on the car and if it comes out crap THEY don't want to sell the car to me, their either going to find me another max on their lot or find me another good deal, either way I wont lose money.

The only bad thing is that it looks like they wont be able to give me any extended warranty on THAT car.

Well the parts are comming in for the car tomorrow, and they are going to do the diagnostic, but in the meantime they have me driving around in the tiny sentra.

JOY...

I want MY car...damnit...

OH, btw the dealership is only bending over backwards now cause I had to get men in my family involved.

Didn't the car come with some kind of warrenty from the dealer? Unless the car has no warrenty at all, then you're on your own. But if it did have something then the dealer should take care of it, especially within a couple of days after you bought it!...

Dump it.. too many repais already and still in the dealer.. I have an 01 no problems other than the PO420 code.. which I don't give a crap.... so Dump the car and get an 02-03 one... More engine more HP more everything... and 12,5K for an 01 is too much.....
