shakey car

My car shakes during acceleration past 70 mph, in any gear. During hard acceleration before that, it does just fine. But i do notice that my stick is wobbling left to right like crazy past 70mph during acceleration. Is this an alignment issue? Im dropped and never had it aligned (because i thought if it drove straight its all good). Anyways... any input would be great. Thanks and greatly appreciated.

I actually have been having a similar problem. Although I can't make it consistantly happen. When I got to about 60 the steering wheel started shaking back and forth and I noticed the stick was doing the same. But a little further in the drive it stopped. I later brought the car up to 90 and it was as smooth as ever. This has happened to me twice so far.

i would say one of two things, the belts in the tires may have shifted, in which you'd have to rotate them, side to side. meaning you'll have to remount them cuz they're radials. They are also likely out of balance, that would explain the steering wheel shaking. I would have them rotated/balanced, and with that an alignment. After that if it didn't change i'd look toward your struts. If you're tires are worn abnormally, specifically cupping, or wearing sporadically on the tires, i'd lean towards struts. Obviously the first is the least expensive option, i'd start there.

hmmmmm, start with the alignment, but a new set of struts may be in your future.
