rough idle, bouncy feeling?

Just drove to the store, drove back and all of a sudden I notice a really rough idle. At first it almost felt like my tires were out of balance, then I noticed a serious hesitation in the trottle. Stoped and restarted 3 different times on the way home to see if the roughness would clear - no such luck! It feels almost like my car is bouncing just slightly even up to 40-50 miles a hour - what the hell is wrong with my car? It was fine just a few hours earlier, any ideas???

It may be your ignition coils. They are a big problem on the 2000 and 2001 cars. If you do get new ones. Make sure they have the silver dot on them. Otherwise they look exactly the same.

-Also, didn't think to mention this but the exhaust smelled awful right after all this happened, maybe as if it was burning too rich.

Just let the car sit all night, drove again this morning two long trips and no more shaking. Its back to normal, but i'm sure it will act up again soon.

I found coils online for about 40 bucks each, but where are they located and is it a hard job for an amature mechanic? If anyone knows of a write up on this please let me know!

Be ready to open your wallet

This is a well documented problem that Nissan is trying to ignore. See my post in the thread " What does system lean in bank 1 mean"
