I read the how to, it says to wire it to something that goes on with the ignition, but how can I figure this out? has anyone re-wired it to turn on independantly of the other lights?

I'm thinking that you could do something like this:

Do the foglight re-wire mod from housecor's website, BUT, instead of quicksplicing the cut wire onto the taillight wire, splice it to a separate wire that you'll run back into the cabin. When you get near the fuse box under the steering wheel, tap it into the green wire that housecor mentions in his instructions of how to wire up the DDEs as daytime running lights (on with the ignition).

http://www.innerbean.com/housecor/dde_switch.html

I'm guessing there is another wire in the relay box under the hood that also goes on with the ignition, but you'll have to break out the amprobe and do some searching.

Know what I mean???

Okay, I did my foglights ACCIDENTLY the way you wanna do yours. . It's simple, all you have to do is instead of tapping into the red wire with the gray dot on it, u tap into the red wire right next to it. There will be 2 red wires on the taillight fuse, so housecor tells u to tap into the one on the middle, instead tap into the one on the far end. That'll give your fogs power to turn on without any lights being on. Goodluck.

i did it the same way as Sammz, and let me say the fogs are so much more effective with the headlights off in heavy fog. Not to mention the visual appeal. Of course you can have both of these with the normal mod, however i love the look of the max with just fogs on euro-style right around dusk. There is one downside; the fogs will no longer go off automatically when you open the driver's door, and there will be no buzzer to remind you, so it is possible to leave them on, and that will probably kill your battery in 8-12 hours. So far so good KOW. Also the lights still go off with the highs, which i don't mind, but some find undesirable.

Well, if you wire it up the way I suggested, or to another wire that is triggered only by the ignition, the fogs will only be on when the ignition is on. (and obviously the fog light switch)

yeah thats exactly what I'm gonna do, splice it to a source that goes on with ignition. that way on a dark night when I go to start up the car, boom the fogs go on wihtout me even having to thingk about it. dont want to worrya about leaving them on and killing the battery.
