2002 SE Car Shakes @ Speeds > 45 MPH

If anyone can help that would be great.

I Just recently got an incredible deal on an 02 Maxima. However, after owning the car for two months, on two ocasions the car began to shake at speeds over 45 MPH. The first time it happened, I took the car back to the Nissan dealer and they could not recreate the issue.

When the car shook today, I called the dealer again and they are claiming that they had 16 customers come in with the same issue. They say that because of the snow storm we had over the weekend, and the sudden arctic chill afterwards, I had snow and Ice in my under carriage and drive shaft which caused the violent shaking. Once the car thawed out it was fine. I also took it to the car wash for an under carriage cleaning.

Has anyone ever had this problem? Also, is the solution Nissan provided correct? I am concerned because I have a hard time believing my car would shake as if the rims are falling due to snow and ice.

Thanks,

Eric

Yes. Bunch of us had snow stuck on our wheels which caused crazy vibration. I wouldn't worry about it.

i just had a thread about this... yes they are correct. snow in the rims will throw the wheels off balance.

stick a five pound weight into your rim some time and drive around... you will see

i see you are from Boston...

i was just stuck in Newton last night because i went with my best friend to get his new Cadillac Seville STS from Frost Motors... and it was locked in an out of town storage building... so we got to stay the night!!

That STS is bad a**
