After market grilles

I have heard that there are certain after market grilles to beware of and I need to know about them. The only style that I am interested in is the mesh grilles. I have seen two for sale. One is on eBay and is $70 and is cut to fit the Maxima. The other is on Custom Maxima and is $30 and is a do-it-yourselfer.

Is there anything that I need to look out for? I heard about some of them rusting, anybody have true stories? Since some punk azzs stole my front and back emblems, it has sped up my decision on replacing the grille so help me out. Preciate-it!

People have had rusting problems with Grille Tech grilles. http://www.grille-tech.com/ . I have had upper and lower Grilles Tech's on my Max for more than a year now with no rust. It seems to be luck of the draw though. I love mine. They look really good and I have gotten tons of compliments on them.

I am wondering if it has something to do with states or regions that have bad weather and use a lot of salt. In TN, the DOT only dumps salt maybe twice a year.

Another possibility is that the grille gets chipped by road debris and loses paint and exposes the metal.

I guess you could just repaint for a couple years (if necessary) and then just replace it. Not a very expensive mod yet it is the best looking in my opinion.

i have grille-tech upper and lower grilles. my upper grille is in perfect condition, but my lower grilles are totally rusted now. i'm going to get them powercoating body color this spring. if you go with the grille-tech grilles, just get them clear coated before you install them.

I had the Grille-Tech and they rusted/corroded....twice. I got rid of them.

I have the JMS upper grille now and no lowers, but I may get some JMS lowers this spring. No corrosion issues thus far.

bluesbrekr, where did you buy the JMS grille from? I'm definitely interested.

I am also sure that here in TN, we see a lot less snow and salt though.

If you have pics of the grill that would also help.

Try the Street Scene grill I bought one this fall and the quality mesh grille is prepainted in black I have not yet been able to install it cause the instrucitons say to cut the center out and after I looked at it appears that the center insert is attached with screws. Waiting for better weather and will ask the Dealer this weekend as I'm scheduled for my Mobil 1 oil change this this weekend. My dealer lets me buy the mobil 1 and he puts it in with a new filter all for $19.99 I travel 50 miles to this dealer eventhough there is one 1/2 mile from my house.

I went to his web site and on the last page he has pics of the grille. One good one and one that is a little too dark.

I did a Google search and I found the instructions and pics for a Maxima install of that JMS grille. They just didn't have the price.

I bought the JMS grille from an org member. Sorry I don't have a link to a place that sells them.
