I just put new 17" Chrome Rims on my car. But the problem is that the front shows more than a 2-3" gap in the wheel well, and rear shows less than 2" gap.

I need to know which lowering springs to get and which ones are the best. Everyone been talking about the Eibach Pro Kit.... Are those the best and will they work for my 2000 SE as far as the amount I might need to lower it?

You can see a pic of my car in the signature or a larger pic in the profile, it might be a little hard to see the gap in the wheel well.

PS, I dont know how to get this picture to work in the signature? What i gotta do?

Words from the wise

Start looking at the Parts lists, and FAQs. Most of the numbers and stats are contained inside. If you want opinions then that might be appropriate to start a thread. As you can see by the sarcasm a bunch of lurkers and newbies have started threads w/o exhausting the search resources. Don't worry too much. We're glad to have ya here. I did the same type of stuff when I had questions. Later

More Words from the wise

You really don't have much of a choice with Springs... Eibachs or H&Rs or maybe Intrax..... Unless you go with the Cattman Coilovers!!!!!!! There height adjustable but the price is pretty high.
Go with eibachs. I have them and they work wonders for me. I just need a RSB FSTB and new struts & I'm set...

Does anyone have the

Ground cotrol coilovers? They come with Eibach springs and seem to be real easy to adjust. There's an ad in the latest Sports Compact Car (inside back page). Their website www.ground-control.com doesn't show an application for the Max so I called them and they did confirm that they have it for the 5th Gen. Price is $399 for all four. Anyone have it on their ride?

$399 for 4 coilovers?!?! ... Cattman is selling a set of coilovers but they aren't that cheap! Are you sure it's not $399 a piece?

I have the H&R's. I've been very pleased. Slightly more of a drop than Eibach's and softer ride. See my website.

That's what I was quoted. Check out their site and you'll see that other applications have similar prices.

I Guess I am going to go with the Eibach Pro Kit. I mean I did look in the Sticky Parts list, but just wanted to know what people out there liked the most.

I really want to lower the car in the front about 2" and maybe the back about 1.5". Also one more question, HOW IS THE RIDE on the Eibach Pro Kit? Is the ride smoother or harder? Does it still retain the same amount of G rating?

2inches?? Yeah rite.. Maximas don't go that low.. You'll be lucky if it's 1.5inches...
I think the Eibachs were like 1.3 or something. Forgot the exact drop...
The ride will be alot harder.. It wont get any smoother than the stock setup... The cornering will be alot better but that's about it.
Prepare to feel every bump!!!!!!!!

Sprint has springs for us that drop 2" in the front and 2" in the back... they are pretty cheap too like $120ish

there are basically 2 different types of springs out... ones that are for performance and ones that are for looks... the eibachs are more for performance while the sprints are more for looks...

if you lookin for a drop with a stock feel then go with the h&r's i dont know about the sprints yet cause i dont know anyone that has them but i kno that they arent performance oriented

They don't come with shocks/struts/whatever, the Cattman do.. plus the cattman are supposed to be higher quality...

Ground Controls are the sleeve and the springs (no struts)

Cattman coilovers include the struts.

Tim, Thanks for the info, but my only last question is that, I have the Stock SE Springs and shocks. I mean right now it rides pretty hard due to the SE package, but out of the springs you listed, which is gonna give me a good handling without having a harsh ride quality? I dont want a good *** handling, but then have just damn near motorcycle ride quality.

You know what i mean?

Oh, definitely go for H&R, you will be so happy that you did!!!!LIke I DID!!!

It actally improved the ride quality(less harsh) than Stock SE suspension!!!

BTW, H&R claims that their sport springs for the max are designed to use with Stock struts!!so this is the one you want to get!! no bottoming out, if you have more than 20k miles on your car, i would consider upgrade it to Tokico(i know i know what else is there?????)

if you want the look and performance, quality..go for B&G!!!!

Okay, first of all, our maximas front& back weight ratio is 60% to 40%(approx.) so according to a good suspension tuning rule, I would If i can definitely try to bring some weight to the back of the car, so you get better weight transfer when cornering!!! Can we say Understeering when cornering hard?????

Again, if you are concerned about the look(whether slammed look or whatever you prefer, Go for Sprint)

BTW, i took it as you dont' have Stillen kit on your car, rite? with Stillen kit, you won't notice the back sagging that much (at least in my case with H&R)!

ye i dont have the stillen kit on my car but i do want to in the near future... But i just never heard of the B&G springs before... who has them? where can i read about them? how much are they? where to get them? Are they better performance wise than the eibachs? also i do not have Tokikos YET... can i use the B&G springs with stock suspension for a little bit and then just switch it or do i have to change the struts right away? Im waiting for my stocks to die and for a few people to install Konis on their 5th gens and i think i will prob end up doing the same...

Check out the site at www.b-gsuspension.com

They are from Europe, it's pretty new to US market, but being TUV approve(same as H&R) you can definitely trust the quality of TUV(germany government tough standard, unlike SAE) I have read some articles regarding being TUV approved suspension, and from what i read, if you can pass the test, the spring pratically can last about a lifetime without sagging or deformed!!!

The worst nighmare you can have with springs is that sagging as time goes by, INTRAX is known to sag for some time, but the funny thing is they claim themselves to be TUV approved also-----??????

so then what does that say about being TUV approved?

If you upgrade to Tokicos (or maybe Konis) you'll be pleased. The ride got better after lowering and the Tokico replacements. The car is lower, handles better, and rides better than stock SE (IMHO).

Like H&R always says Some spring manufacturer CLAIMS themselves to be TUV approved, but actually they are not!!!

Like Intrax i guess....

And did you know that Progress uses the same spring set for 5th gen max and 4th gen max? I would not get that!!come on 5th gen max maybe identical in suspension parts but body struture is different!!at least make one set for 5th gen max!!
