Hey guys just a couple questions. Has anyone heard anything about a new grill yet? Gettin sick of the tired stock grill. 2nd, is it posible to paint the tail lights white. Like the se tail lights have the black color. I think it would be sick if it was color coded to match the color of the car. Photo shop anyone? Thats why I think the black looks the best from the back. Cuz it matches. I myself have the white. Im in need of smoothness.
Thanks for the help guys?

Somebody just posted about painting their taillights. I don't think they ever posted a pic, though. Do some searching. It was just last week or so. Also, somebody posted about a custom grill they did. Again, I don't think pics have been posted for that, either.

That person who painted their tail lights, most of you know he obviously painted the outside of the taillights. The problem with this is the paint can easily be scratched off. Then it will look like hell.

The black that is on the SE taillights is actually on the inside of the plastics and partly due to the lense being smoke colored.

I would not recommend painting the tailights, it will be a pain in the *** to fix them if your screw it up or when it scratches

I think it looks better that way, as long as you couldn't tell the lense was painted. I like the way it integrates more nicely into the body. I am not a fan of having black around my lenses, and I don't particularly care for all red (gle).

It has an effect of making the whole back look shorter
and wider (better), because it draws the body color all
the way from one side to the other.

That and the circular tail lights are more sporty
looking...

I have a Gray Lustre SE, and the match between the body
color is close enough to the smoked surrounds that I'd
probably be happy to keep it the way it is...but if I'd
gotten Sterling Mist - it would have been real tempting.

Actually I might have to take back what i said about not painting the tail lights..... That joint like tight. You may want to consider it, and maybe I will consider doing it also on my Sunlit Sand color.

I've seen a white GXE that did this exact thing with white vinyl, and it looked damn good. Close up I don't know if it would look as nice, but from a distance it looked great.

I've gotten lots of comments from even everyday drivers who see my car's rear tail lights and ask if its a special model.
I've charged $50 to paint the rear lenses for 2 other 2000+ Maximas.

Is this an easy process?? I would definitely do it. Do you need to remove the whole rear lamp fixture? Could you give us a little how to...that would be sweet!!!

I'd like to see an actual picture of a Maxima with this grill. What I'm looking for is a billet style grill. It would look sharp. There's a black 4th gen that I've seen on this board with one.

I don't think that grill is the same as the Street Scenes. The Street Scenes grill is honeycombed, like their site http://www.streetsceneeq.com/ . I don't see a listing for the Maxima on thier site...

I say they are stock, and they look at me like I'm crazy or something. BTW I hate Altezza lights, I despies all of them.

Jeff2k1GLE, haven't noticed too many 5th gens up there, except for one AE with a hot looking blond chic. I thought it was someone from the org, and I chased her down, almost got a speeding ticket, cause I was speeding up DPA, and cop popped out to make the right turn, he looked at me, and I waved to him to say I'm sorry. By that time, the AE had already made a U-Turn and disappeared into the local streets. Look forward to meeting some more 5th Gen owners.
We're always in the Pathmark Parking Lot. At least we know have 100% permission from Pathmark to be there, as long as we don't make a mess, and aren't jerks.

-Kiss my A** Ocifer...

yo_.. nice, i haven't seen her.. there's a pretty hot sterling mist i've seen a few times.. i'll be the white one with the org stickers.. i haven't brought my car there yet.. we hang out in the stables garden parking lot by the diner and the laundromat.. but lately every time we go, my friends have been gettin tickets and stuff, they're really starting to crack down which sucks, if i get pulled over tho, i should be OK, i have an SOA and a PBA card.. so hopefully, they'll let me slide with anything

Make the red part clear?

Does anybody know how to make the Red brake section on the SE taillamps clear? I think it would look real good with clear sidemarkers.

simliar to yo,
I've had my tailights redded out for almost 2 years now. WEll since it first came out. Instead of using paint, my local fixup shop worked out a deal with 3M and they made this really thin piece of tape/vinyl that looks exactly the same color as red tailights. No one can tell the difference and when up close it is hard to tell that it is tape. The thing about red paint is that after a while, it starts to fade and starts to look crusty and dirty. I've been looking for the red tape recently and was told that 3M stop making it becasue it didn't sell well enough. The red lights look great though.

My next thing i want to do is to figure out a way to get the bottom half of the tailight to always stay on when i'm driving at night to give it the full circle affect. That would look really nice.

The red tape i bought is not any red tape. It was a special tape engineered by 3M. it looks really nice and fits really well. The color is perfect. I've thought about getting it painted professioanlly with a clearcoar.
