ok i just called them. actually the number you gave me is the number that a mechanic would call to get reimbursed. the sales number is 1-800-632-4222. I spoke to a guy named Barry at extention 1024. So anyway here's what they told me. For my car the coverage is as follows (i know it's a pain to read but once you figure it out it's not that bad):

75,000 mile plans - $100

I just have one question though. What is the emissions coverage all about and do you have it?

I didn't get it, but I might consider it before I hit 60,000 miles, need to drive this thing for awhile. Couples things, the price will go up as you accure more miles so sooner is better(remember I'm at 51,000 already). Barry works on commission, that tells me there is some major markup here and therefore room to negotiate a price that you consider fair and he can live with. Bottom line is you won't know if it's worth it til something happens, you need to decide if that's something you can live with. I've had my car for 2 weeks and I don't know it, but you've had yours for some time now and I would guess you have a feel for how well it's put together. Do you have someone you trust to repair it? Can you do some of the repairs yourself? The board is a major resource of people who can assist, so consider all that and make a choice. Just let everyone know what you decide and how much you ended up paying.
When you come to the fork in the road, take it.

i doubt you can haggle them down. actually if you could i wouldnt want to do business with them cuz it makes them not sound legit. the warranty would be more expensive for you since you have 20,000 miles more on your car than i do and plus you'd also have to have them check out your car.
i can't do any repairs myself but i have a mechanic that i trust with my car. so i think i'm going to go that route.
can anyone else recommend another company?

Sup all...I am gonna get the EW through Warranty Direct. I am probably gonna go with the Luxury Care+. and get the emissions package...
No matter what, pay the extra 70 bones to get the emissions package even if you don't live in a state that has emissions testing...Reason being, the package covers Emissions components, i.e. MAF, etc...And for 70 bones, you can't beat it...And they just rolled out a discount if you get the Emissions package...
The difference Ive seen in 3rd party EW, and from the dealer is...If you purchase from Nissan, it is a Service Contract, and it starts from the first time your car was placed in the shop (in service date)...So if you have an 02, and someone took it in the shop say Jan 02, then your 3yr service contract will end in Jan 05, unless you hit the mileage limit first...
With EW, it starts from the day of purchase, and goes to the mileage limit..With Warranty Direct, if you bought it today, and you got a 4 yr/100,000 plan, then you would have until Feb 5, 2009, or 100,000 (odometer reading). Don't get confused about the mileage limit...it's not 100,000 from where you are now, it's 100,000 on your vehicle...Hope that helps...And with Warranty Direct, they have roadside assistance, reimbursement if you break down on a trip (hotel fees, etc)...And it does cover wear-and-tear items as well...As far as coverage wise, it's the best I have come across...And to top it all of, you don't have to pay for it all up front...They can setup a payment plan for you...

Forgot to add in my last post...MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT ANY EXCLUSIONS...If anything is listed, it is NOT a true bumper-2-bumper warranty....
IMHO, the interstate website doesnt list prices, services...so, Im really funky to things like that...Also, no matter where you get EW, someone is getting commission...Dealer gets a cut for selling, agent gets a cut for selling...That's how this world was made...I would rather give the cut to the agent, that way, at least I know he is not trying to pull a wool over my eyes...As stated before, dealerships can pick and choose what 2 repair if they don't think they will get their money...and most of the time, it's not even new parts...Hope that helps!

Hi all, my 00 max SE with 55K.. I got mines used and purchased the "economy" service for $2500. Is that too steep? It's the one that includes roadside service, the "1000" component warranty. Sound ok to you all? of should I cancel it and just repair when I see necessary?

Well, I'm no expert on warranties, but $2500 seems a little high for the warranty. Especially considering you probably only spent 10k or less on the whole car.
At 55k miles, you still have another 5,000 on the factory powertrain warranty. Now, that's obviously not too much time, but you should know right now if you're going to have any major issues (i.e. transmission). If that ever does go bad, I am positive it will be less than $2500 to replace. I would get your $2500 back and use it on some mods. Just my .02.

Well, I bought an extended warranty at the time I bought my 2000 Max with about 30K miles from the dealership. It wasn't a Nissan Policy but it was offered by the dealership for my Max. It was $899.00 at the time of the vehicle purchase. It was $50.00 deductible coverage. My coverage was through Western Diversified.
I did use it a few times, new power window motor and switch, new EGR Valve, new coil pack and a few other minor problems, and it did pay for itself.

I got EW thru Warranty Direct (Interstate). I paid like $1700, which is a bumper-to-bumper 5yr, 100k plan, including the emissions package. Even though I live in a state where emissions don't matter, that part of the plan covers emissions components (MAF, etc)...
It was one of the cheaper and better deals for EW, considering the coverage. It has roadside, trip interruption, etc...I have about 38K on mine, so I know this will be paid for a couple times over by the time I hit 100K.
Good Luck!

I am looking at a 4yr/100,000 from Warranty direct.
The cost of their SecureCare + Emissions package is about $2000.00
My car has 45K now (bought it at 32K)
Is this worth it?
Should i go with a payment plan for this ?
cheers - NN

Mine has paid for itself as well. 1 MAF($240), 1 Wheelbaring($180), 1 Rack&Pinion steering($1,850). All of these are w/o labor and I paid exactly $0. Get it. I bought one for my 00' Civic Si. We paid $450 out of pocket and the warranty paid $4,800 for the engine rebuild and getting the head machined due to warping. I only paid $1k for the warranty. In everycase I have come out so far ahead it id rediculous.

^^ Spoke with a fella named Alden (sp?). Don't have to get the same plan, but do have to sign up and pay for it at the same time. That's going to be tough getting a bunch of people together unless you do it at a meet or something. Oh, and all cars must have 30 days and 1000 mi. left on the factory warranty to get the $100 off. They do have a payment plan: 30% down with the balance spread over 10 months, $3.50 service fee per installment payment. Basically, I would have to sign up this month. Otherwise, rate hike, paperwork, inspection, etc.

i've been speaking with barry over at warranty direct. he says that the cars have to be under 33,000 miles and 60 days left on the warranty and the only thing they'd give you would be $50 off the emissions coverage.
i'm looking at the 5 year 100,000 mile warranty with $100 deductible and emissions coverage. that's gonna cost me $1795. he's saying right now they're running a special where they give you $50 off the emissions so my total would be $1745. pretty expensive...

Yeah, I was told about that promo too, but it seems like a bad deal. It has tougher restrictions, smaller discount, must buy the emissions coverage, ends this Monday, must be paid in full, etc. The multi-car discount seems like a better deal if the logistics could be worked out.
The higher deductible saves you some money up front, but if you incur more than 3 service visits during the next 5 yrs, it ends up costing you more than the $0 deductible plan. My experience is that after 6-8 yrs, cars start eating money. My '96 Honda ate $3000 in less than a year before I traded it; my '88 Toyota $5000. Both were low mileage cars too. I don't expect my Max to be any more reliable, given all its power, features, and sophistication. So paying $1900 now for total coverage looks like a bargin. Luck for me they have a payment plan. Oh, almost forgot that any unused balance is refundable.

Might want to check out http://www.1sourceautowarranty.com/ . My dad's Intrepid is covered under their wtty and he's never had a prob. w/their bumper to bumper warranty (Diamond). They just covered $1500 worth of work this week b/c something was wrong w/the AC. The shop said the claims ppl were some of the nicest they've ever experienced and really made it hassle free. The shop was also happy that the labor rates 1source was paying them was higher than most of the wtty co's they've dealt with. I thought that was pretty good considering most shops will honor it if that is the case and will def. try to make sure a part is covered. Just another option to consider. I will be going w/them b/c I'm not gonna pay Warr. Direct $1400 for non bumper to bumper warranty when 1source gives me bumper to bumper w/o an inspection for $1300.

Under their Diamond plans, the company will cover parts that are "worn beyond mfr tolerances." We've never encountered such an issue, so I don't know. But the contract does mention that. You might want to call them up and ask. Well, the shop first calls the company to tell them what's wrong w/the car. If they approve it, the mechanic can fix it, and the company pays them w/a CC. If they are major repairs though, they send out an adjuster, much like an ins. co. to come look at it and make sure the mechanic isn't lying before authorizing the repair. That's what happened w/my dad's car, the repair bill would've been around $1500 so before the wtty co. auth.'d it, they sent out an adjuster.
Before you go buying any warranty over the 'net, I highly suggest you talk to your preferred mechanic or shop which you know you can trust to take the car to and ask them if they deal w/ext. warranties. All of these wtty co's claim you can goto any ASE cert'd place, but that's not true. Some places won't bother w/a wtty car for some reason. Might be b/c these co's won't pay them the labor rates they want? The Dodge dealer my dad used to goto, used to honor the 1source wtty, but all of a sudden, they stopped for some reason. So it's crucial to ask before you drop $1000+ on a 3rd party warranty IMO.
