2002 Maxima Wiper replacement Help

Trying to replace my wipers but no one carries them. The specs are 26" Driver/18" passenger.

What size do you all use?

26" driver and 17" passenger is the correct size.... i'm 95% sure... but i could be wrong... eek...

I also believe you can use other sizes too but the correct sizes should be 26/17....

I can't find the 26" anywhere either other that ar the dealer. It's a conspiracy with car makers where you have to buy OEM wipers for lots of money..... just use the 24" you can buy at any Wal Mart, they work fine... been using that size since I first replaced the wipers.

PIAA is only so-so. Stock OEM was better.

They are silblades. They have a 5 year waranty on them. I have them in my trunk but haven't installed them yet. I'm just waiting for the cold and the snow to stop before i put them on. I will post results later on.

My stock blades worked awesome for a year, and pretty good for another year. The PIAA blades already streak after...maybe...3-4 months? Pretty lame if u ask me...

Im not gonna hate on the stock blades because they did last almost 2 years, but the PIAA have been going strong for about the same time period, so its kinda even...

I picked up the stock refills at a dealership by me in Waukegan, Il for $7.50 each. My passenger side just broke up in the middle and driver side still going and not a streak on either side until now and I have 42K miles. In the past with my other cars, I usually picked up other good brands by replacing it all but since the stocks gave great results, I'm just getting refills.

That's a damn good price. Pep Boys carries either 26" or 28" blades for about $10 each. Crazy. For $7.50 why would you buy anything else? You wouldn't.

These rock: www.ultimatewiperblade.com. Use the "secretdeal" code to get a discount.

I love them in all conditions, especially in snow.

I agree with this. My stock blades were on for over a year and a half. I am on my 3rd set of aftermarket blades. After a couple months, they start streaking again. Rain-X helps them last longer.

You can find the 26" blades at Autozone and such...

At the dealer where I got my Max, their replacement wipers are terrible. Utter crap. I'll buy on-line or Walmart next time.

I have a question maybe it's stupid but, is it possible to use '28 on driver side and foe example 18 on passenger. Just to make area it's wiping wider?

Advance auto has 26" and 17" refils and OEM style full replacement blades. I switched my 17" ones to 18" and it works perfect. Wipes a bit more glass. Although end up bending the metal (shiny part) every winter scraping ice and clearing snow. So I basically replace the refills every year. And I think next year, 5 years since new. I'm going to replace the whole 26" wiper frame too. And they're not expensive.

Sorry for bringing this topic back up.

but wouldn't you also have to get a 28" wiper for the 28" blade thus costing you more money?

I tried using the Bosch Micro Edge Excel 28" but it won't work because the "mount" is wider than our wiper arm. I think it's because of such a big wiper, it needs a wider stronger arm So 28" won't work. If it did, then the combination would be 28-17 or 26-18. I'm running 18" on the passenger side. Advance Auto sells 26" direct OEM replacement refills and the whole blades.

I haven't tried a 28". I almost got one but then I found a 26". I am pretty sure a 28" will work.

I did buy an 18" instead of a 17" though. An 18" and a 28" might work together. But it would be close.

28 won't work, the mount is different size. with a 26"-18" combination, you have less than 1/4 in space between the blades when they are parked. If you happend to find a 28 that works, a 28"-18" combo will overlap when parked... jumping from 17 to 18 is only 1/2 in. on each side, but a 26 to 28 is 1 in. on each side. You will overlap. But a 28-17 combo will work. That's if you can actually find a 28 that will fit the bayonet mount of our wiper arms.

And if you do, you'll have to tell us brand and where.

.

Now that I think about it, you are right. I remember looking at the 28" and seeing that it had a different mounting bracket and wondering if it would work or not. That's when I picked up the 26 " instead.
