Make sure you press the horn and put on the lights after you disconnect the battery...that will drain all the power from the car.

Regarding the reset of the ecu, of those of who have done it, do you have to reset the bose radio security code thereafter? Also, was your gas mileage compromised due to the ecu having to re-adapt itself to your driving style?

Anybody have any idea how long the ECU takes to adjust to your driving habits once you hook the battery up again? How do your driving habits immediately after reconnect affect the ECU?

YES I just reset my ECU when i replaced my radio... although I didnt mean to reset it the car was disconnected for approx 45 min to an hour. After I reset it it was fully adapted to me after about 300 miles. because I have the MAF sensor problem now the car is even slower than before and the engine has more limits now. At first your car will be very slow after you reset it. The best way to accelerate is to slowly press the gas pedal harder and harder....dont just jam on it. you may want to do it when you have the least highway driving to do....your trip computer (not the whole odometer) will reset so you can see how many miles you've gone since the ECU reset.

So do you always have to re-adapt the car after an ECU reset? My Check engine light has been on for a long time anyway...ever since I got my y-pipe and SC put on.

yes the car will make you re adapt no way around it unless Nissan reprograms the ECU.
