Anyways, the car is stock right now... 2000... my g/f's... but I hope it will change hands soon...

I say headers, test pipe, 3" exhaust cuttout, 2.5" bpipe, w/ stock rear section. Sounds awesome going from sleeper to beast in a split second

i emailed steve about 2 weeks ago and he mentioned they were out. i told him that i would email back in about a month to check and he seemed like that would be reasonable.

5" tips belong on civics, not on maximas. If they made a nice dual tip, that would be sweet. personally, once my headers go on, i'll just get a b-pipe. as much as i love how steven88s car sounds, not for a DD

Because I created such a beautiful and perfect thread and it cannot die. Seriously though, thanks for everybody's input. Because this thread is so old and has been revisited a couple of times, my exhaust is over a year old. Keep in mind, I bought the exhaust based partly on the information gathered from this thread, so its pretty old. Thanks again.

GReddy SP2 w/ an additional resonator in the b-pipe (had a local shop do this for me)

I currently have the Greddy Evo Catback and it's a little loud low-end but after a certain point...(about 2500 or so rpms) the sound is quite nice. I'm pretty happy with it.

I used to have the HKS exhaust with a custom-b pipe (no resonator) and that gave off a very deep and throaty sound....much better sounding than my Greddy catback IMO....but I sold that set up after the car got kitted.

Is there any fitment issues with either the cattman or frankencar?

not really, no...sometimes you have to adjust the hangers, but besides that both fit fine. In any case, it's pretty much impossible to get a FC these days, so you'll probably want to go with Cattman.

Check the classifieds section...there's always someone trying to sell his ricer Greddy.....

Why would you put a big potato-shooter like that on the back of an I35???

New to Maxima's

I have an 02 maxima SE and I'd like to completely max the performance underneath the car ( not the hood ). What are all the parts I'll need to achieve this. I'll figure out brands later.

Y pipe , B pipe, exhaust etc. Not really sure what they do, but a nice list for max performance would come in handy

Thanks, Michael

OBX mufflers blow. they look great, but there is no baffling. it's a straight-through design that drones like crazy around 2.5k rpms. it drove me nuts on a previous car. get a baffled rear section like frankencar or cattman. most gains can be seen by replacing the b-pipe, with mandrel-bent tubing. the $200 you would spend on replacing the oem muffler with any aftermaker one is not worth the 10lb wight savings, imo.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the Cattman is straight through as well....

I have the Cattman Y-pipe to catback, nice deep sound that fades out into the background at highway speeds. You hear it going through the gears, not objectional idle is quiet. Cattman had a great custom fit and appears to be holding up its SS reasonably well. Overall a good choice!

If i end up having a shop do a custom catback... what do you guys recommend for the resonator? I've got a Ypipe, stock cat, and a flowmaster muffler, and I need to replace everything between the cat and the muffler. I know alot of people use glasspacks... but what kind is best? I don't want this thing to be ultra loud. Also... should I upgrade to the 2.5... or stick with 2.25? I don't plan on ever boosting or anything major like that. Thanks.

i would make sure the resonator was around 18" or so and has a perforated core. the glasspack resonator i had mine it sound like crap even with the headers. magnaflow makes a couple of mufflers that you could get from local exhaust shops in that size and perforated.

If you're gonna do it, might as well get 2.5" but make sure its mandrel bent.

I can't find anyone around here that does mandrel.... Everywhere I call and ask ends up chuckling. Then I ask if they do pressure bends, or crimp bends... and it's like they are confused. I have to explain... does it look smooth, or does it have little crinkles in the bends.

if you cant get mandrel then make sure its 2.5. my old b pipe was crush bent 2.25 and it was better than stock but not by much. if you can get mandrel then you wont notice much of any difference between 2.25 and 2.5

Yeah, the crush bends will effectively reduce the 2.5 to about 2.25.

I have a Cattman Catback on a 2000 5speed Supercharged Maxima. It sounds nice and deep, and it gives a good amount of mid-high rpm power.

I have an lss as well, would it be better just to replace the muffler or have a shop do a custom rear section? I was considering a cattman but they are a little pricey for what i want to spend.
