That makes perfect since, I haven't seen them in real life so pictures are all I can go by. Maybe when I move to the DC metro area within the next few weeks I'll be able to see them in person.

Well, how you see the DDEs in those pictures is how the look in real life but brighter. The camera makes everything dimmer so you can see the light in the picture.

Let me clarify:

A camera shot in auto or some regular mode will make the DDEs look significantly brighter than they are, while a camera shot in night mode (which I guess is what Polak used here) will make the DDEs look a bit dimmer than they really are. In real life, they are bright, but also distinguishable in the headlight itself (as long as the HID low beams are off). Sorry for the confusion.

I'm not trying to rain on anybody's parade here, and I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but do the HID fogs really make that much of a difference over a pair of PIAA Super Plasma bulbs? I tend to think they match the stock HID low beams really well. Personally, I just can't justify spending so much on fog lights just for a little more purple-blueish color.

it is a bulb and harness that fits into your stock foglight housing. PM .org user - umnitza for more details

i don't know if lookswise it's much better but the HIDs wont burn out every 6 months like the PIAA super plasmas do.

Well, I guess if my PIAA bulbs burn out anytime in the next year, I'll consider the HID fogs.

The moral of the story is that you MUST see the DDEs in person to understand what they really look like. Cameras just don't do 'em justice. (This is not directed towards GoldMaxNYC; I know you have vast experience with these things.)

Between headlight removal (which may or may not be a PITA if you have DataDots), baking the light, pulling it apart, epoxying the rings on, resealing the light, and reinstallation, I'd say the difficulty is about a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. It's a very time-consuming procedure, and there are a couple of things that can go wrong, so you really have to be careful. If you haven't already seen it, check http://www.innerbean.com/housecor/angel_eyes.html for installation info, etc.
