question on adding an injen cai

my question is when i install the injen cai on my 02 maxima about how much hp would be gained and what would be the total hp if it is a stock 02 maxima? and also would the maxima sound any different from when it had the stock intake? thanks for your help.

You will not gain any HP, maybe 2 extra hp on a cold day ? Nothing noticable as far as performance, only thing you will get is very aggresiveee growling sound. It will be ALOT louder then stock. You'll love the sound. Although many people have said that on the long end you gain a little pull (highway wise).

then why does injen claim or dealers claim that it will add between 10-15hp?

they want you to buy their product. If you add intake/headers/exhaust you will then see a noticeable gain. Intake by itself is only your imagination.

Well....let's put it this way your money is better spent elsewhere if you want better performance, like headers. Y-pipe doesn't do a 2k2 much good either. The Injen will actually provide a higher torque on the low to mid-range RPM. It hinders top end acceleration.

Now as far as the sound, well compared to a ram air or hybrid intake it is much quieter. But it is louder than your stock intake, not that noticeably, but its there. you will also hear a whistling at certain RPM's. This is due to the mass of air rushing past the throttle body butterfly valve. nothing can be done about that sound. It annoys some, it doesn't bother others.

The best advice I can give you is find someone in your area who has an Injen on their max. Take a ride and see what you think.
