Engine just shuts oFF!

Starting about a month ago, my engine would shut off randomly at traffic lights, stop signs, and even while i'm driving. Also from some strange reason, whenever i fill up the gas and then i try starting the engine back up again, it won't start after a few tries. I don't know what could possibly cause this sort of problem. I was guessing it'd be the battery but i had that check out and it was fine. But it freaks me out to drive the car sometimes. I'm taking it to the dealer today to see what the problem could possibly be, maybe an alternator? Thanks guys!

Maybe an intermittent problem with a cam or crank sensor.

Car shutting off experience

I had this happen to me last year, and I did 2 simple fixes that cost less that $10. MY problems were caused by dirty Throttle Body and dirty MAF Sensor. I just used CRC cleaning products to clean each. I can't remember where, but i know that there are instructions on cleaning the throttle body, and i'm sure someone can help explain how to clean the MAF sensor as well. hope it works... good luck.

DON'T CLEAN THE MAF. DON'T LISTEN TO THE NOOB!!! you can kill the MAF rather easily. See if the stealer pulls any codes and fix it the old fashioned way, replace it.

The car just doesn't feel like it is all there, and also I'll be cruising and it feels like the car hesitates or just backs off sort of I can't explain it!

I agree, try cleaning before replacing expensive parts.

First get your car diagnost by the dealer(stealer). See what they say, if it IS your MAF, then like GBAUER said just replace it for $100 from DaveB. Cleaning the MAF will just make your life more complicated GL

Fuel filter, air filter, plugs, wires, alternator, but here is what I am thinking the alternator is not oem and I know these cars love certain oem products. The car let my friend sit in Kentucky and he needed to have it done and a mom and pop shop with no oem products for miles!! Any thoughts??

Try putting fuel injection cleaner like Valvoline syn which I think it comes in 12oz bottle for an entire gas tank and this should help clean up the fuel lines from the filter to the injectors. Run the car for a couple of days and hopefully it helps clean up the injection part. If no signs of getting better, check air filter and no harm cleaning up the throttle body.

FYI, don't monkey with the MAF sensor PERIOD!!!

Since you already had your 02 sensor code, and you have replaced the 02 sensor and still no result. That basically means your MAF is bad. 02 sensors and MAF goes hand to hand. Many times a bad MAF will throw code which will indicate either a bad 02, dirty fuel injector, or exhaust leak, for example a code like P0172. The cheapest part to replace which usually fixes the problem is a bad MAF. Many times you'll also get rotten egg smell inside the cabin as well.
