The last time I went, they scratched my bumper. They fixed it, so I went back to have them look at my rotors. The guy on the phone said they could probably take of them for free. The guy at the front desk was practically ready to charge me before they even looked at the car. When I asked about the tsb regarding brake judders he said, "Yeah I know about that, that's for defective rotors." Then he told me that his car needs to have the rotors redone every 10-15 also, like that's normal. I had to leave before I lost my ****, so now my car still shakes. I'm beginning to think this is definitely my last nissan. Maybe I'll trade it in for a pinto.

Hi. I recommend Rockingham Nissan in Salem, NH. I don't know where in Mass you are, but they are good. It's a bit of a hike, but so far they have been good to me...

Why don't you try another dealer? There's Cambridge Nissan,Clay Nissan in Dedham, Quirk Nissan in Braintree to name a few. Just keep taking to different dealers until you find one that gives you satisfactory service.

 

Do not go there... I dont know about the others, but stay away from Cambridge. Scary. Went in once and immediately realized that they are not coming within 50 yards of my "Baby"...

I bought my max at Frost Nissan. I live right around the corner. I havnt had any trouble with them yet. Although Ive only brought it there once, for an oil change.

 

Frost has been pretty good to me. I go to school in Waltham and I brought my car in to there when my check engine light came on. Even though the car was still under warranty at the time, Rueben (one of the guys in service) was very helpful, hooked up the consult for me, told me what the problem was, and recommend that we reset the ECU just to make sure. 2 days later it came back on and I brought the car in the have the EVAP canister fixed.

I always get my oil changed there too. The mechanic in the corner ( i forgot him name) of the garage is very meticulous when he does work on cars.

Jason McDonald who runs the suspension shop on watertown st. is awesome too. He let me watch him do the alignment, and he's a good person to talk to about suspension.

But I guess you can please everyone. I'm sure they're **** some people off. I think rotors are supposed to be turned every 12-15k. I've heard that before.

That's what the guys at frost told me. That's outrageous. I had a Saturn that went a hundred thousand miles without rotor work. I had an 86 Chevy Nova that went almost 200k without it. Maybe they're just smaller cars so they can do that, but I'd expect Nissan to be able to come up with some grand scheme to extend the useful cycle of their rotors beyond 11,000 miles.

I'm taking her in to Marlboro Nissan next week (where I bought her). The service guy on the phone told me that if the pads aren't worn too much than it is the rotors, and he will replace them. I'll let you all know if it works out.

I had the same problem and had my rotors turned at independent shop 3k miles back. Still too early to talk about results. Just curious - do you have lug nuts torgued to specs and evenly? I read in many places that uneven/overtorgued nuts can cause this warpage.

 

Maybe it also depends on how hard you brake.

 

Hey guys, this is BS, I would normally resurface the rotor only if required when you have to maintenance the brakes and this would typically happend around every 20K miles to 40K miles, depending on how you drive.

If you verify your brake frequently, you should be able to make around 3 years before even touching your rotors. Sometimes people wait too long before having their brake done and the rivets on the pad when revealed, will groove the rotor then you'll have to resurface them, dont forget also everytimes you resurface a rotor it become weaker.

I went to Marlboro Nissan and they turned the rotors, again! That'll buy me another 11,000 miles before I have to bring it back in, unless they are much weaker now.

I've checked around and causes of rotors warping are standing on the brakes and keeping them depressed while stopped (uneven cooling of the rotors), washing the wheels while hot (quenching the rotors causes warping), puddles, and the number one cause of rotors warping is having rotors that suck ballz!!!
