Is my VIAS working

I am suspecting my VIAS shot... not much power in the higher range. Now I read through Sitckies about this problem, and still can't conclude how to correctly diagnose it. My question is for those who had this problem and fixed it.

What is the sign of bad VIAS when accelerating to red line? Does the car accelerate at the rate it starts in the mid range? or does accelerate faster (VIAS kicks in) at RPMs above 5000.?

Because now when i floor it in 2nd to red line, in higher range it just keeps on getting there - I don't feel any VI opening up and producing more HP.

I just replaced coils and the car runs smoothly, but I still feel it had more HP.

its got 100k miles.
THanks alot..

go through the write-up and figure it out. it's pretty simple.

if you have 100k miles on it then chances are it is shot as long as the car is/was driven above 5k rpms on a regular basis. the way it was created leaves no way for it last a suitable amount of time. you wont really feel the VI but there is a tone difference and it helps if you have an intake to hear it. the quickest way to find out if it is busted is to dyno it. the cheapest way to find out is to open it up.
