Difference between 00-01 and 02-03 Shifter Assembly?

I have tried to search but for some reason I cannot get this thing sorted out. The trannys are same in both cars (01 I30 and 02 I35), 4speed auto, will the shifter assembly plug right into the 01 I30? I just dont like the bulky look of the old shifters and the new one is tiptronic... Any opinions?

well im not sure if it would fit, because correct me if im wrong (i dont have an auto) but the 2k2+ have 1st gear as an option on the actual shifter, but dont the 2k1s and before only go as low as 2nd gear?
