OD Light

I turned on my car today, it was pretty brick outside... nd this is my first time seein this; the O/D light flashed like 5-6 times and then went away... wassup wit that?

that happened to me like 2-3 months ago and nothing ever happened. at the times my coils were almost brand new.

this happen to me too, awhile back and i cant say there was anything wrong with my car around the time that it happened.
but like you....im also interested to know why the OD flashed when i turned on my car

same here.. nothin wrong with the car at all, just wondering what could set it off like that...

its a safety mechanism built into the auto tranny.
Let me guess, you most like at some point before you saw the OD light spun your wheels on some ice / snow and hit the brakes right after right? after this happen the Auto tranny keeps itself in 3rd. Upon next start up of the car its still in that mode and the OD light blinks to indicate that. THe next time you start up it should clear itself up.

that sounds right....i think i noticed it when i kept getting stuck in my driveway. hence lots of wheelspin trying to work my way out.
