Lower temp. Thermostat

I was wondering has any one put a lower temp Thermostat in their Max. The reason have low-temp thermostats dramatically reduce your engine’s operating temperatures, improving performance and extending component longevity(blanket statement). I know this is one of the first mods the V8 guys do. Their are odvious advantages for lower engine temps. So why not?

Well, the reasons that you stated for putting in the low-temp thermostat is true; however, putting in a low temp thermostat does affect emissions. Because catalysts require a certain temperature to operate, they won't be able to operate as efficiently. The only real reason that you need a lower temp thermostat is if you're running high temp apps (turbo, supercharger) and need to reject all that extra heat generatred.

lower temp

Okay that is a good argument. Almost every mod made on a car in some way lower the engine temp: aluminum head or block, less restriction in the intake path or exhaust. These thing and other mod help the engine to do less work which in turn the engine produces less heat. Heat robs a NA car of power.

Okay turbo car love heat I own two. The heat helps the turbo get rid of the exhaust faster in turn spooling the turbo fast.
