Dropped Bulb in Tail Light

I have a problem that hopefully can be solved easily. I made the mistake of replacing a tail light without pushing the bulb in all the way. It lit up, but it did not click all the way when I pushed it in. Anyway, today I saw that the bulb had actually fallen into the tail light cover, whatever it is called. I can not reach it through the hood, as the bulb has rolled to the side. Is it possible/difficult to take off the passenger side tail light cover? Any suggestions? Thanks In advance.

are you talking about the side markers or the rear lights...if it the fornt take the housing out two bolts and pull (what kind of car you have 00-01 or 02-03) if it is in the back .. remove the trunk linen and remove the four scres that hold the housing in place. Take the housing out and play around with it until the bulb comes out.... the same as in the front...

Sorry to mention, the car is a 2000 GLE. The light I am referring to is the actual light on the rear, not on the side. I am able to remove the trunk liner to get my hand in to replace the bulb, are you saying that I can remove that entire assembly? Forgive me, but I am a novice in dealing with this type of stuff.

you should see 4 screws 10m ones holding the rear tailight ... remove them and pop out the light.

haha!! this is exactly what i did when trying to convert my reverse lights to the H3 bulbs! i didnt feel like popping out the entire tail light, so i just kinda fished the light out with my finger and a screwdriver...it worked but it took about 10 minutes...i might've been better off just taking the tail off and tipping it upside down like lontar said...

You can also get a "retrieval tool" from the auto parts store. It is a flexible shaft with a button on the end. When you push in the button, 4 little steel "fingers" come out and grip stuff. You should be able to snake it in there and grab the bulb. They're pretty cheap too.
