Power Loss at 3500 RPM
Power Loss at 3500 RPM
To avoid the rest of this post - I'd like to know what I need to do to clean out the throttle body, how to clean the fuel injectors, and how to replace the fuel filter, or if there is something else that would cause power loss @ 3500 rpm.
I found this thread on possible problems that could cause this (power loss @ 3500 rpm), among which were a bad O2 sensor, clogged fuel filter, restriction/malfunction in the fuel line or a fuel injector, ECU needing to be reset, throttle body needing to be cleaned, ignition coil(s) needing replacement, fuel system bottleneck, failed airflow sensor, or a problem with the fuel pump.
I've looked at the FAQ's and Installation Instructions / How-To's For 5th Generation Maxima but cannot find how to check/do many of these things (if I can do them myself at all).
Specifically I'd like to know what I need to do to clean out the throttle body, how to clean the fuel injectors, and how to replace the fuel filter (again, if I can do these things myself at all). If anyone could help with any of these it would be much appreciated.
I have a used 2000 maxima se if that is of any use. The dealership said that some crappy airfilter being put in by the previous owners caused some clog or something that would cause power loss and was a $200 repair, but my dad (the financial support) opted to not mess with it, so this whole problem may be able to be fixed by that repair, but this one would be $200 out of my pocket so I want to make sure that it couldn't be something else.

It's sounds like the MAF sensor.
You can get it at www.jerryromenissan.com. When ordering use the promotional code "maxima" to get a 12% discount. It should be around $95 shipped.
Part # 22680-2Y001
You should be able to install it yourself. It takes like 5-10 minutes.

As per www.jerryromenissan.com website :
Please note: EFFECTIVE 3/8/2005:
We regret that we have decided to stop any online discount codes at our site as well as the ability to order mechanical parts. For now, we are only offering accessories and NISMO products to be ordered online. We hope to enhance these product lines in the very near future.
This is hard for us to do as we have many loyal online customers, who we took pride in providing great customer service to. This decision is strictly a cost affordability issue due to the discounts we had to offer to compete with other online dealers.
This makes it hard for us to afford this service.
Please check back occasionally to see what we decide to offer in the very near future.
