Painting Rims
Hey all got a hair up my arss today and wanted to paint my rims so I went and bought paint and all but thought I beter think about this for a second. Basically what I want to know is do I need to do any prep work. I have the stock SE six spoke 17's. Also is there a way I can paint them on the car with out getting paint on the rotors but making it look clean too?
Any and all help will be much appreciated.
P.S.
Flat, Gloss, or Satin Finish? That has been picking my mind all day!

just painted them yesterday. scuffed up the clear with some 120 grit sand paper after washing them a couple times of course then put two coats of primer on it. after that i put two coast of flat black on and it came out great if this doesnt hold up then i will do it the other way but i think this will work

I'd definately take the rims off the car, sand them real nice, hit them with at least two coats of primer, give them a couple of coats of color, and then give them a couple of coats of clearcoat to make sure they hold up nice

I will be taking pic's soon of my car the weather has been beautiful so I might get creative. I was thinking if I should do it at my work or in my street. I just gotta wash it.

clean n degrease the rims off the car, wet sand down with 800-1000 grit s-paper, wash off and allow to FULLY dry(humidity is the biggest enemy),apply first coat of desired paint, allow to dry. lightly wet sand with 1200-1500 grit, allow to dry again. one more coat, allow to dry again. your done.
