sound during clutch travel

Has anyone experienced any noises during the last few inches of clutch pedal travel before it hits the floor "and then vice-versa -the first couple inches on the way back out"? Its hard to describe the sound, maybe like an old hinge on a door type thing. I have tried to lubricate the spring under the dash board and that did not solve it which makes me worry since that eliminates what I would beleive to be the most simple explanation.

he's talking about a clicking noise like a relay

I believe your sound is more of a squeek like a mouse or door hinge, which I have the same problem. I've wd-40'ed the assembly a few times to no avail. It only happens in cold mornings under 55F
