baaaad day for my car........
#1
so i was working on my car yesterday trying to get the intake back on b/c i took it off b/c of the service stuffs... and guess what? i BROKE two of the brackets of pipe right before the throttle body (it's the one with the temp sensor on it)... SUX!!!! so i called Dave Burnette and asked how much it would cost (prolly like $50 of something, right?). NO. the list price is $500!!! and even with the discount it's near $400! the part that costs so much is the sensor and they sell it all together (pipe and sensor). suxness..... so he and i both agree a little epoxy would do the job and would be a LOT cheaper. ($2.95!).
so to add injury to insult... as i was going to put the battery back in, i notice a nice puddle running down from my batter to the cracks in the garage. what the?!?! my battery is leaking... seems that when i was taking it out and it slipped and probably cracked it a little. funny part was that the Pepboys guys didn't see any crack in it but then the rookie guy asks his sup' if it was normal to have your hands burn from touching a battery. the sup' said, "dude! you've got battery acid on you! go wash it off!" hahah.. okay, so my lameness cost me $70 for a new battery... sux.
the moral to this story? (learn from my mistake, please).
1) when putting in the temp sensor/tube that goes into the do not apply too much pressure on the corners... it's REALLY brittle! be careful!
2) when taking out the battery, the battery cover is NOT a handle (as a friend told me). grab the entire battery, not by the flimsy cover. it WILL slip on you.
okayokay... you can laugh/sympathise now...
SUX!!!!

I think YJ broke that same bracket when he was taking of is intake. He used some sort of epoxy glue to glue the brackets back on. Sounds ghetto, but it will save you $500. It's so expensive because I think the entire assmembly comes with the MAF sensor also. You may also want to try getting it off of a wrecked maxima. www.copartfinder.com may be of some help. Sorry to hear about all your troubles

I am thinking of paying the difference and getting either the White Thunders or Magnum Whites in place of the bulbs I got. Those pics you posted of the White Thunders look tight! But I may go with the Magnum Whites since I think they may have a bit more white in them rather than blue
