Floatiness of Springs
Floatiness of Springs
For those of you that are lowered, and have experimented with different springs. Do you notice a difference in terms of floatiness between the setups that you've experienced?
Reason I'm asking is I'm going from Progress to S-Tech, and right now with aggressive driving, my Progress is somewhat floaty still, at least at high speeds. I need the frontend to be planted, and figured the lower you go the more planted it will feel. I wanted to see if this symptom is decreased when moving to a lower spring setup.
Note: This is not a "Which spring is better, or Which spring will give me the best drop" thread.
Please reply to question at hand.
Thanks,
p

The lower, stiffer S-Tech springs should feel less "floaty," but the Progress shouldn't be floating too badly in the first place. One factor that can make a set of good springs feel floaty or bouncy is your dampers. If they're not up to the task of controlling your spring compression and rebound, then it doesn't matter how good your springs are. What dampers are you running?

that makes sense, i was on the verge of thinking it was some sort of rubber boot or something, but i understand ya.
you think i should set it higher for a lesser rebound? i kinda like the comfort level where they're at, but am i sacrificing what i have to deal with leaving the settings where they're at?
i guess i'm gonna have to just try the s-techs to see where i stand.

no "floatiness" with h&r/illumina. i felt that the stock setup was a little "floaty". and i do know what you are talking about; my trans-am with eibach/koni feels floaty....and i hate it....until i get on the track
No floatiness on my Progress/HP set-up... definitely not at high speeds, since that seems to be your concern.... but I will say that the S-Techs, although harsher and less comfortable, do feel more solid....
