Actually, I meant DAVEB, so we're both wrong

I always talk to him on the phone, so I forget what his org name is

Though technically he is Dave B also...Dave Burnette....

The other guy is Dave B lower case and in italics....

it's all about the caps and lower-case I guess....

BigDu....I only use the Media X-pander with my MP3 player..it clarifies the sound...not with CDs or radio though...

Oh yeah, I also took this:

Oh man, I am the king of thread-jacking. Sorry about that, Irish.

Do you have the part numbers for these? I'm gonna try a local source as well as DAVEB, and I don't want to end up with the wrong part.

MAn the kit is 88 bucks and the pocket is 17. I may comb a junk yard when the time comes to get a new headunit.

The red looks kinda eye irritating, but unique indeed.

I wonder if anyone has done this with a color other than blue, white, or red.....

What's the wattage of the LED's that you used? Did you have to solder a resistor to keep the LED's in check? The mod looks NICE btw.

I used 2.0 V, 900mcd, 20mA led's

For certain applications you need resistors.
For the climate control, I used 12 total LED, wired in 2 series of 6 (total of 12V, so didn't need resistors for those)
For the lower part that shines on the shifter I used 3 LEDs with (as I recall) a 460ohm resistor (check a reisistor calculator, I'm not sure)

the resistor depends on the voltage of the LEDs and how many you have in-series.....and yes, I did solder them.....

because the shutter speed is off on my camera, they look brighter than they really are. In reality, they are much easier on the eyes than the blue was. They are about as bright as the red dash lighitng on my wife's old Jetta (and her current Mazda 3)

As for the pieces:
The GXE dash kit is part # 68750-3Y110 and it's 88 bucks from DAVEB
The pocket with door is # 68475-40U01 and it's 17 bucks from DAVEB

You will pay ALOT more for both those pieces at any dealer (besides Dave Burnette)...

Also, someone asked me here or on PM about the key ring....there's a how-to somewhere here on the org...do a Google ghetto search.....

oh, and here's a good LED calculator that shows you what resistors you need and how to wire in series with different numbers of LEDs

I know, after he got the HIDs and G35c rims, he said that his wife was making him stop for a while. He must have stopped for at least a few weeks. Oh well, it's all good.

I already had the brakes stuff sitting around...but I couldn't install them until i put the G35 rims on, since they won't fit under my OEM 17's.......

I need a "house.org" forum to get me excited about hardwood flooring now

as to the LEDs...they cost 4 cents each...not exactly an expensive project. The deck I only got because had a "good deal" opportunity......kind of spur-of-the-moment...

Guys....
For anyone who wants to toy with the climate control lighting/controls/whatever without risking your own....take a look at this:

Before the flaming starts, I'll save you the hassle and tell you that this has been answered like a bizillion times. The answer is that it's doable, but ultimately too expensive. You have to buy the digital unit, two extra sensors, and IIRC a new harness. Install would also be a huge bi*ch. So, I don't think anybody has actually done it.

Links and pic's most likely aren't working because of the age of the thread you do relies that it started back in 2005 and the last post before yours was back in 2007
