I was at a local Nissan dealership test driving the new 2001 pathfinder and when I left I saw a 2K max leaving so I decided to see if I could get a race out of him. I pulled up along side of him at the traffic light and reved him. I got sum serious tire spin at first put quickly started pulling on him. When we shut it down at 80 mph I was almost 2 car lengths ahead of him. At the next light I rolled down my window to try and tell him that my 2K max was supercharged, but he was so PISSED that as soon as the light turned green he punched it. He got a car length lead on me because I wasn't expecting him to race again but I caught him from behind and when we shut it down at 85-90 mph I was a whole car length ahead of him. Now he was really mad and I just turned off and waved goodbye. It sure was fun messing with him though!! I hope he didn't go to his dealer and complain that his car was BROKE!!

heheh that's mean. i wulda been like "uhhh i got a lemon" so how's your blower hangin? neproblems yet? is your car 5spd or auto?

Pepo......

Before you start telling people what to do read the post! If you did (slowly) you would see that he was testdriving the 2k1 pathfinder but the race was in his SUPERCHARGED 2000 Maxima! He probably was racing a 2K se 5sp vs. his S/C auto. Thats why he killed him but not by tons.

and you should test drive a PF2001 with 240 hp if you dont think its mad fast.

No flames here. It just proves that if you want a relatively "speedy" Max, start with a 5 speed. A 2 car lead at 80 mph is definitely noticeable, but might only represent 2 or 3 tenths in the 1/4 mile. That torque converter is "dining" on alot of that extra 95 hp from the blower that Stillen claims! But, damn...I wish I had the blower! I just cant see plunking down $4k on a leased car. Id be more inclined to spend $400 and nitrous it. I know, I know...poor man's HP!

I've got an SE auto (I know, I know, but its the wifes...) and I was starting to look into getting the main performance items for it (intake, exhaust, SC, etc...) how much did the SC set you back and who did you get to install it? Does it void your powertrain warranty?? Sorry if these questions seem trivial, but I'm new... = ) I could bore you to death with performance info about TTZ's (my car), but I'm just getting into the Max...

S/C voids factory Warrany, cost ~3800 and about

600-800 for install,Thinkd They installed it in Arlington Tx.

S/Cer = $3350.00 Labor for install plus Greddy Boost Gauge = $1400.00 Where and who = Alamo Autosport in Arlington, Texas

Supercharged 2k Auto

I got emails from Stillen, and they told me that they are still testing a SC for auto max 5th gen..Dman I heard from Kevin that you had to do some modification to make the SC fit????

So, does that mean Stillen SC will not fit on 5th gen Autos???
What exactly did the shop do to make it fit?????

Did you do any tranny upgrade????

The airfilter assembly unit in the supercharger kit DID NOT fit on my maxima because the gearbox of the automatic tranny was in the way. Fortunately my mechanic was innovative and was able to design and custom fabricate his own airfilter mounting bracket for my car. He also had to use a long slender high flow airfilter instead of the "FAT" K&N airfilter that came with the S/Cer kit.

YES!! I upgraded my valve body in the tranny (thanks to Don Cooper in Texas), added a Hayden tranny cooler (once again thanks to Don), and had Nissan install the newly reprogramed TCU (transmission control unit). NOW my car shifts like it is suppose to and will occasionally chirp into 2nd gear under WOT.

Damn..so it means that the Stillen SC kit is not direct bolt-on for 5th gen Auto tranny...that sucks

Did they have the same problems with 4th gen auto max???anyone?

The damn sales told me that it was because of the power the SC will produce, thus might damage the auto tranny..he never said anything about the air filter assembly...oh well..

The sc doesn't bolt on to the tranny... the tranny just gets in the way of the intake. No probs like that for the 4th gens because the air filter is right next to the sc.

The damn sales told me that it was because of the power the SC will produce, thus might damage the auto tranny..he never said anything about the air filter assembly...oh well..

Stillen has since fixed the problem of the airfilter assembly unit for the auto maximas, BUT the REASON they won't sell it to owners with an auto tranny is because the stock tranny CANNOT HANDLE THE POWER GENERATED BY THE BLOWER!! You have to upgrade the tranny if you want the car to handle the increase in power, a BIG FACT that they did not disclose to me prior to my purchase of the blower. In fact it was a question that I asked my Stillen sales rep about on NUMEROUS occasions and his reply was . . . " You won't have to do anything to your tranny, it will be able to handle it just fine !! Just don't put slicks on it and torque brake the car." Don't you think it is rather strange that after the problems with my auto 2K max that Stillen has put a freeze on selling the blower to owners of A/T maximas. Well let me assure you it is not coincidental at all... in fact my sales rep told me that because of my car and what they learned (which should have been discovered by their R&D Dept. during the "research" phase PRIOR to selling the kit to me)that they have made the decision not to sell the kit to owners of A/T maximas.

How does that work, i mean you can just lie and say yeah i have a 5 spd max???????
or they require you to sign waiver form or something????

cuz, someone just got a V2 blower for his 4th gen max and he had to sign a waiver form....#$@%^#$^

That same sales rep said ask me if I did any tranny upgrades. I told him I got the VB recal and he said my car should handle the blower fine. Just what Diederik? They DIDN'T test it out on an auto 2k during their R&D.

You can't lie because they'll give you the same kit as Diederik got. Then you'll have to fabricate some stuff yourself. They'll probably void whatever warranty that comes with the blower because it was supposedly sold to a manual tranny car.

Jane97se had to sign a waiver for her v2... something like no modified ecu, no changing pulleys, no nos(?), etc.
