a link to the georgia statute on the legality of having certain colored lights on the front of your car. it would appear that georgia only expressly prohibits blue, but don't quote me on that. most states prohibit both blue AND red lights to prevent civilians from impersonating police officers.
That's what I read too. I looked through the OCGA book (what you linked to) and only found that blue lights were illegal for non-emergency vehicles. I found nothing that specifically states that only amber turn signals are legal on non-emergency vehicles. I guess we have to wait and see if a cop tries to give me a ticket.

I think the red looks nice, but must agree with the legality of it (or lack thereof). I believe, with regard to the mandate to have amber in the front and red in the rear, that it is a Federal law, not necessarily a state law. Just like it's a federal law to have orange side reflectors up front and red in the rear.....

I was driving the car with the parking lights on. The bulbs I had in the orange parking lights were red, thus making the markers red when illuminated. An officer working a road detail stopped me when I passed him. He told me red lights are for fire vehicles and ambulances only, and cited me the ticket.

Do you want us to post pictures our tickets or something? In Michigan, having blue, red, green, violet, black, etc light anywhere in the front of car is illegal.

If you can find them try to see what code the officer wrote down that you were breaking. Should be something like 40-something-something. If you can't find it, no big deal. My curiosity is killing me and I want to look it up so I can maybe get out of it...

I'm saying that they are illegal because the officer that issued me the ticket said they were (and my parking lenses weren't even red, just the bulbs inside). I'm not telling you what to and not to put on your car, but instead i'm just giving you a heads up. I'm sure you'd rather use $300 bucks on something better than a ticket for impersonating a fire/ambulance vehicle without a permit.
