any ideas on reducing weight?

i have the se with leather so i know my model is particularly heavier than other 5th gens. i did some brainstorming but other than the spare tire cant come up with any ideas on reducing some extra pounds. ive seen a 4th gen that was down to 2800 with a full leather interior...HOW?????

anyone have any ideas on what to take out to drop some weight? ANYTHING????

AC compressor, seats, don't fill up a full tank of gas, lighter rims...

If you're really hardcore you could do this:

pull out all of the sound damepening material under the carpeting attached to your frame. Remove the lining under your hood. Take everything out of the trunk, remove he back seats, depends how crazy u wanna go i guess. You can also shed a few lbs off yourself if you want, and wear nike performance sneakers.

Two word: Carbon Fiber. Get a CF hood and trunk lid.
You can also get light weight 17" rims to help with reducing your rotational mass.

Irish: You can only do a flywheel on a manual tranny.

Anywho, the most significant weight reduction mod would be light weight rims. You don't have to rip anything out of your car, and the performance increases are fantastic. A nice 15-17lb rim set will throw an additional 15 or so horsies to your wheels. Getting a light weight underdrive pulley will give you an additional 2HP and a crank pulley will nab you around 3HP. These weight reduction mods will bring your overall horsepower performance much closer to your crank performance of 222HP.

For every pound front rim weighs = 7lbs of theoretical weight in the car.
For every pound rear rim weighs = 4lbs in the car
50lbs of weight in the car = loss of 3WHP.

If you drop 10lbs off of each rim...count that up. 140lbs from the front rims. 80lbs from the rear rims.

220lbs divided by 50lbs = 4.4 x 3HP = 13.2WHP.

Some say that the reducing the rear rims is still 7lbs out of the car, but that doesn't make sense, because the rear wheels are dragged along.

Hey guys,

I REALLY don't want to get in the middle of things or get into it with anyone either. That being said, it's really starting to get rediculous around here as far as helping people out. What the hell is wrong with someone asking a question like the one that was asked? What is wrong with sharing info on the org? I thought that was the basis of being part of a site like this; finding and sharing information about our cars. I think that too many people have forgotten what it's like to be a noob and not know much about their maxima's. I would rather tell someone something that takes 10 minutes of my time to type rather than them spending hours or days trying to find something on the org. I remember what it was like to not know much about my car and feeling comfortable asking other people for their input. Honestly, it's gotten to where some of you guys put more time and effort into bashing people than it would take to answer the fuc'in question.

And Zippin, this isn't directed so much to you as some other people on the org, I know that you're a long time member and have helped plenty. I mean no offense to you personally.

So anyone, new or not, that has any questions about anything, feel free to PM me. I don't know everything or even close to it, but I will try to help as best I can when I have the time. That is what the org used to mean to me.

I have a simple solution that makes sense. First get lightweight wheels. Next loose the spare tire. And lastly get an all aluminum dashboard and loose everything else in the interior including the carpeting. Keep just the bare essentials only. Hope everything works out for you.

Good luck.

i though that every pound off the front wheels = 8 pounds of rotational mass
the rear doesnt matter at all in this case cause its fwd?
