I hope you don't have kids because one day they'll ask you how to tie their shoes and you'll tell them to either donate money or search google to find out because they should obviously just know the answer to everything since more experienced people do.

So how much is a rough cost to do the upgrade from 00 Lights to 02/03 HID lights including the lamps, bulbs, wireing harness, and install?

ballpark $1000.00 total cost if you can find a used pair (also need wiring harness, lower clips). looking more like $1300+ new parts from the dealer. Plus, you have to figure out how to rewire everything so it works (it is NOT plug and play).....

Or for people that don't like primadonna crybabies. that's also like saying driving a maxima is for little girls that can't afford a real car like a Ferrari. I don't know what affording the overpriced tickets to a game has anything to do with what team a person likes. Don't get me wrong, I don't like Oklahoma either, but some people are weird like that .

I can see a problem noting that if we readily dispensed the knowledge on how to install the headlights, we would further proliferate the market for thieves. I mean, putting all that knowledge out there (even though it can be found if sought) is kinda like the people who make bombs saying something like, "Well I never intended for them to kill anyone!"

Theres only two legit ways I see around the whole stealing and purchasing of "maybe" stolen lights; Either your car came with them, or you went to a dealership (or bought them from a REPUTABLE internet site) and had them installed.

just my .02 cents. Sorry it wasnt a direct answer.

College teams play harder and better because theyre not making millions; theyre aspiring to make millions. The pros aer all caught up with whos the best and who makes the most money. Its no longer about team playing, its about one guy getting a deal from a shoe company.

ROFLMAO to sooner, gbauer, epacy and the rest who made good jokes.

to those who asked millions of stupid questions.

For those who are serious about whether or not 02/03's all had HIDs, what DDEs are, etc, hopefully this will clear things up:

HID = High Intensity Discharge

The only distinct appearance you get from an HID bulb is a more blue color and usually brighter output than a traditional halogen bulb. 2000 and 2001 Maximas did NOT have HIDs, it wasn't even an option! They had headlights with this general appearance, and all had halogen bulbs stock (thanks xlcrew):

2002 and 2003 Maximas ALL had HID bulbs stock. What a lot of you are confusing with HID is the redesigned headlight housing introduced in 2002. That's right, Nissan changed the headlight housing for ALL Maximas, AND they added HID bulbs (low beam) for ALL Maximas. This is what 2002 and 2003 headlights look like stock:

DDEs are an AFTERMARKET product for 2002 and 2003 Maxima style headlights. They are flourescent rings that attach to the ring-shaped protrusions inside the headlamp housing. They are produced by Umnitza (www.umnitza.com). They come with their own ballast and can be wired to have ENTIRELY separate operation from the low and high-beam lamps themselves. Again, DDEs (also called Angel Eyes) are just the RINGS in the following picture, they are NOTHING else:

The biggest point of confusion here seems to be the misuse of the term "HID". We always refer to the 2002 and 2003 STYLE headlights as HIDs, simply because its easy. However, HID has NOTHING to do with the style, it only has to do with the bulb system utilized in the 2002 and 2003 headlights. For instance, those with 2000 and 2001 headlights CAN add aftermarket HID bulbs to their style headlights, but they CANNOT add DDEs (angel eyes), as DDEs require 2002/2003 style headlights, which have the cylindrical protrusions which act as supports for the DDE rings.

I hope this clarifies everything for those who are seriously confused. This took some valuable time, but I was getting irritated reading some of the posts in here. Sorry to Irish and some others who hate all caps, but I had to make some points. Some of these people....man.....
