Ok, then. He should get the 2K1 MAF then and switch sensors.

 

 

I hear some 02/03 owners going with 00/01 MAF sensors, and I've also heard something about a new MAF for the 02/03. I remember being told here on the Org that if I get my MAF replaced with one of the new 02/03 MAF sensors, I need to get my ECU reflashed (not just reset).

Personally, I think using the 00/01 MAF sensor with the 02/03 resistor would be the best and cheapest route, but does anybody here know if the "new" 02/03 MAF sensor is any more stable than the "old" 02/03 MAF sensor?

 

Apparently, the "new" MAF, which is the AM600 is supposedly the most robust... but I can't say for sure... this is just what people have posted... the 00/01 MAF with the 02 IAT thermistor seems to work fine too...

As for the reprogram, I've heard mixed things about that... some people say do it some people say don't. But if ya do it after putting in the MAF yourself, don't let the dealership charge ya any more than 30 mins' labor... cuz it doesn't take that long....

Sorry, I wish I could give ya a more concrete answer....

 

My car is a 2003, so I'm pretty sure it came with the AM600 MAF sensor from the factory. So far, the MAF seems pretty stable. I've taken it off the car and reinstalled it twice, and I've driven for several thousand miles on a Berk intake with a K&N oiled air filter. I've cleaned and reoiled the filter twice since I've owned it.

I'm just hoping that the AM600 doesn't fail, but if it does, I will buy a 2001 sensor instead of paying nearly $500 for another AM600 sensor.

 

I just got off phone with Dave B.. He sold me a 2001 MAF for me to swap over the 2k2's thermistor. I know many of you guys are using this setup, so I figure $91 is better than paying $512 from my local dealership. Dave B. even beat my local dealership's price on the normal AM-600 MAF replacement if anyone needs one of those. I recommend Dave HIGHLY!!!

You mean you bought a 2001 sensor to use in your 2002 housing with the 2002 IAT thermistor?

 

 

Ha.. yea thats exactly what I meant.. Sorry I was in such a rush today to get this taken care of that I didn't even realize what part I was describing.

I'm going to try this new setup with my intake, I feel a lot more comfortable knowing that i'm taking a chance on a $91 sensor instead of a whole new $390 complete MAF assembly.

I think someone posted that the MAF from an 04 Altima can be used in the 5th gen and supposedly it's stronger than any of the others.
