Interested in first exhaust mod

I had to take my intake off last week to take my car to the dealer for a warranty repair. While I had the stock airbox on I realized the significant low end torque/power loss the intake caused. I don't want the stock box on but I want to counter balance the intake's effect because I still love the sound.

What could I get that wouldn't be too cheap, wouldn't be noticed by the Nissan tech's if another repair is needed and wouldn't cause any failure. I'm thinking Y or B pipe. I don't want any droning or too loud but I don't mind if it makes a subtle difference in sound.

Headers and catback are out of the question because they are too expensive and extensive.

Oh and I have no garage so I would need this installed by a muffler shop.

Price range: $150-$250.

Y-pipe will give the most gains in your situation, but chances are they will notice it.

Ok, how about a b-pipe, will it negate the effects of the intake?

I'm nsot too sure not have I seen anything that proves a b-pipe gives subtantial gains, it wont negate it, but probably help it.

You just got lucky, b/c I'd say 90% of them will raise the flag if you have mods. My dealership told me to get the bungs for my O2's and they would call it good .even though I have headers.. I may be lucky as well

do you guys think, with little or no modification, the stock heatshield that goes over the stock y-pipe could go over an aftermarket y-pipe? I mean the outlet points are pretty much the same right?

The stock y has pre cats so it will look weird being that the aftermarket doesn't...

I thought that the precats were in the stock exhaust manifolds, so if you ONLY get a y-pipe (not full headers), then your precats are still there.

They;re in both the manifolds and y-pipe, that's why the y-pipe gives gains.

Wow. How many cats are there? I thought there was one in each exhaust manifold and one right before the b-pipe. You're saying there's also one in the y-pipe?

there is one in the front exhaust manifold and then for the rear its in the stock y-pipe. Thats why when cali spec gets a y-pipe, a pre cat is eliminated.

3.5Ls do not have a precat in the stock Ypipe, only on the manifolds they do.

Ok, so would a b-pipe be worth it?

Mine did ... The y-pipe has one after coming out of the ex manifold , and again a little more down right before the main cat, not to mention the units nestled in the manifolds themselves
