Anyone got a VQ35 in their 00 or 01's?
Was it an easy install? or did you have to do a lot to make the engine and tranny fit? Any help will be appreciated, I'm interested in upgrading my VQ 30 to VQ35. Will the VQ35 fit the 5 speed?

Edit: Oops, Tilley has a 99, hence the sn Tilleys99.
Go to the "all motor" section and read in there. There's a post that goes through the whole process. Sounds like a lot more work than I did to get my VQ35. Here's a pic of mine (I spent about four hours on the job. 1 in the dealership and three cleaning the engine!):
Swapping a VQ35 isn't that hard in a 4th gen since you can run it off the 3.0 ecu, I dunno about 00-01, I thought 99-01s have more complicated ECUs/Electrical systems.
Tilley did it in his girl's 1997, and is running it with a 1995 ECU. The reason it's worth it in a 4th gen is because of the weight difference (my car weights under 2900 lbs) and because of the huge value difference between a 95-96 and a 02-03 (3500-4000 versus 14000-17000).

For the extra two grands or so, just get a 2002, it'll be worth more anyway.

why wouldn't you just trade in the o1 for an 02/03, and save ALOT of work. If you're doing it yourself as a fun project then thats cool, if you're gonna pay a shop to do it, you're better off trading it in for a 5.5 gen.
Personally, if I were to go through that kind of work, I'd instead opt for a S/C and get 'er done right! It's just not worth the effort unless you're shoe-horning it into a 4th gen. Even then, you can do more with the 3.0 on NOS and S/C or T/C for the same cash and a heck of a lot less asprine.

extra power=Extra mortages on house.

Why would you want to swap out a perfectly good and reliable 3.0L for a 3.5L ? Do you have $$$ burning a hole in your pocket ? For the price of the swap, you can have a totally legit and just as reliable 400WHP 3.0L. Reliability of a boosted 3.0L is as high as that of a 3.5L swap into a 5th gen that had a 3.0L in it originally, you WILL have wireing issues for sure.
or you can just sell the 3.0 and add the # you were gonna spend on conversion and get a 02+ . Anything can be done, but you don't want to spend $ and time and comeout even vs just buying the car in the first place.

But it's better in a 4g and more cost efficient.
