Brakes suppose to be responsive??
Brakes suppose to be responsive??
I think I may need new brakes. I didn't notice it until I rented a cavalier in flordia on vacation and the brakes worked good as soon as i hit them. I get back to the airport get my car and it feels like i have to almost put them to the floor to get my maxima to stop. Are the maxima brakes suppose to be responsive and is there an easy way i can check if i need new brakes without paying the stealership???
there is a bleeder valve on the caliper. i know there is a write-up on the web for general bleeding procedures and i think i have seen a maxima specific one here on the org. bleeding is a process that removes air from the hydrolic line. if you go to howstuffworks.com and check out how brakes work and also how master cylinders work, you will understand why this is a problem. this site has tons of other cool stuff too. you may have a leak in one of your lines which means you are operating on only two of the brakes.

No offense intended here -- but if you have to ask what "Bleeding Brakes" means, you shouldn't be doing this yourself.
You are in jeopardy of making your brakes more than worse.....you could make them downright DANGEROUS.
Let a pro do it.
