For those with HP Racing Evos or R5s

How would you guys rate the durability/toughness of the HP racing Evos or R5s? I was thinking about picking up a set of 18s (probably R5s) in silver for my 01 AE Max, but I'm worried about how they will stand up to NYC streets. I'm only going to use them for summer but even in summer, the streets in NYC are kinda rough. These wheels have a beautiful lip but I think that lip also makes them susceptible to bending. Thanx in advance for any help.

These things are tanks! They are not a light weight fragile wheel...

I've had no issues with mine. I'm running 245x40x18 tires on my Evos which are the same diameter as the stock 17's. I'm sure the 40 sidewall helps absorb some shock rather than transferring it to the rim. I'm not sure how our roads compare with yours, though.

They are allright, I'm running 275/35 and 255/35. They are not really that heavy. I like the look of the TSW thruxton or TSW Volcano a little better.

I had the EVOs on my Legend Coupe, and they seemed ok, but one of my rims bent it's inner lip from hitting a pot hole that wasn't even that big. It wasn't enough to release any pressure, but enough for me to think they weren't as durable. I could have gotten a bad one though. Other than that, I loved them.

The roads in NYC are really bad, probably as bad as they can get. I hear some people in Detroit and such areas say their roads are probably worse, which I can believe since their weather is a bit worse, but I can't imagine them being significantly worse than NYC. Between the winter weather, massive amounts of traffic, and lots of trucks, the roads take a beating and aftermarket wheels pay the price. For that reason, I'm going to go with a 45 series tire regardless, 225/45 or 235/45 R18.
