Ok i just bought my max back in january...well at the end of april ill be driving it to florida....keeping it there 2 weeks and coming back around may 14th..its at about 26000 miles now...is there any maintenance i should do to her before i go besides the things im already doing? im gonna switch over to mobil1 synthetic...probably change the tranny fluid...and im also throwing on the G35C rims and putting 20% tint on...anything else i should be aware of? hopefully the MAF wont go on the way there or back...considering i put the berk on about 1000 miles ago....anyway let me know if you guys think of anything i should pay extra attention to. looking forward to maybe seeing some of you florida max's when im there...ill be in orlando and miami.

Ignore all those "South of the Border" signs on I-95. After the 500 miles worth of hype, the place is actually pretty lame. Not that I've ever stopped there.

 

yea, lol..i stopped there last year on my way to myrtle beach...got my picture with some of the weird *** statues there, lol

**** south of the border, it's like a Duke's of Hazzard County Fair that's open 24/7.....but DO change your oil, check the brake lines/fluid/pads, of course check the tires, and it's aways good to give a look around the engine at all the connections and vacuum lines. Something as simple as a wire disconnected or a split vacuum line can leave you on the side of the road mysteriously.......and take the radar off in Virginia.

 

My only advice is when you do those maintenance things, do them the week BEFORE you leave. That way, if anything gets screwed up in the process, you'll know about it before you leave.

Hey won't the cops give u a bunch of crap about the 20% tint in Jersey? I'm thinking on throw some tints on my car but I've got inspection in like a year and don't want to have to take them off to pass.

 

Im headed down there in July. this will be the third time ive taken my Max to Florida. The only things I check are the fluids, tires, brakes and lights. Cops are real bad in Georgia. Watch out for them, they like to hide!

 

have fun on the trip man, you shouldnt worry about anything too much, make sure you wax your front bumper, cuz your front bumper is gonna be full of bugs and other crap and its hard to get rid of. btw still up for the DDE's? or atleast clear those corners? hit me up.

 

Check tire pressure and windshield wipers.

 

Bring some red bull.

Watch out in the Carolina's $500 min speeding fine + jail time min. Read the signs, you'll see.

 

If you take good care of it, you don't have much to do. Check tire pressure, do an oil change, ATF change if you're really ambitious (and if you don't have a MT), and check your coolant, PS fluid, etc for level and cleanliness. As Maximmax2 said, doing this ahead of time is also a good idea.

In general, you can relax knowing that you're driving a Maxima and they're among the most reliable cars in the world. My baby has 206k miles on it and I wouldn't hesitate a minute to take it on a long road trip tomorrow. Enjoy the trip!

 

I drove to Florida in my maxi, did no preperations besides checking the oil and the tires... After I came back though, I put in that new Quaker State oil.
