LED Mirror...custom made, props to MaximaPolak

Well, I got the idea from Maxima Polak, and i'm on a college budget, and I also just dropped 380 for plugs and coils...but's here's the ghetto LED mirror(the passenger side). Seriously, this is probably not worth your time(3 hours wiring, and 1.5 hrs for one mirror to get to this stage), setting up the wiring, and then drilling into the mirrors, etc. I will attempt a write up but stopping to take pics while doing this is a b*tch. I need some advice on how to seal the bulbs in, they fit pretty snug, but the third bulb in is loose as you can tell by the direction the light is, I was thinking a light clear caulk, around the hole before I put the bulb, anyone have any ideas?

Here's a teaser pic...

He had blue and realized he would be toast in about 2 minutes on the road with cops so he changed them to amber

I just left mine there...nothing covering them. You can always silicone. I didn't bother.

The cops wouldn't like the white...I've had them first in blue then changed then for fear of getting pulled over....mine are now amber and look almost identical.

Look at my sig...I decided to keep the car because I don't want to make payments for another 3 years. I will instead get a bike and use the maxima in the winter and when it rains.

I appreciate your love for my car

I noticed something....you didn't measure nor make a line to align those LEDs better...

I drew a line with a pencil and spaced each LED a few centimeters appart. They came out almost even. I'm not saying mine are better but here's a picture. You can't get the perfect...you'd have to drill all of them at the same angle.

I didn't really notice until now, but wow! I still like the idea though and applaud you for the effort. Is there a way to easily do this that would progressively illuminate the LED's? I'm sure this is going to be hard to understand, but i'll give it a shot. What I'm saying is, say you have 8 LEDs, can you make it illuminate the two closest to the car first, then add two every .5 second until all 8 are lit then turn off, then repeat. Would this be possible? Because I think that would be pretty cool, call me crazy.

I have a 9 LED setup but that's nothing....It might be possible to make them come on later like police have them in order ..>.>.>.>.> but I wouldn't know how to do that...

Here's his:

and here are mine:

I can imagine it'd be really hard to align them perfectly. Can those covers be cut easily w/a Dremel to cut open a slot of sorts and then just fit in small LED bar?

smart thinking man! some LED bars are already set up to light up in series.
I like the way those led's sit on the bottom of the mirro cover...nice and discrete. How do they hold up in the car wash?

that would probably be a better set up in terms of alignment, but IMO the single LED look is much more appealing and subtle...i would rather have one or two LEDs a little 'off' than have a single bar of straight LEDs...just my .02...

anyways, good job on the LEDs...they look real nice, and if i had the know how and time to do this, i would...

I love this idea. The LED's look sweet. I wanna do this to my car. I think I might practise first on an old piece of plastic or something before I start drilling into my mirrors. It looks very nice and is a lot cheaper than the mirrors with sidemarkers in them.

The mirror is curved...the bar wouldn't work on the mirror because of its shape.
