Quietest aftermarket exhaust?

Seems like I got a small tiny hole in the stock exhaust now.

What system out there gives the quietest noise yet some performance.

If I don't find a good one I'll just replace with stock, don't want anything to loud at all.

Soundclips would be nice if you guys go any.

Thanks

I'd say Frankencar, then Mossy?

FrankenCar < Cattman/Mossy < Greddy EVO

this is in order from quiestest to loudest....I personally own the cattman...it's not loud at all FROM MY perspective....but I can admit its much louder than stock....you'll hear the exhaust at every RPM no matter how much you gas it....

I used to have a Greddy EVO catback on my Accord, and it was a lot louder than my y-pipe, b-pipe and HKS muffler. It is quiet at cruising, and considerably louder than stock at WOT, but still very bearable.

Where can I get Frankencar? Never heard of it anywhere north of the border. Mostly Cattman. Out of the 2 which would give the best bang for the buck?

Frankencar's performance is questionable, because of its weight. Cattman's muffler is performance guaranteed.

I'd say the Frankencar....only becuz it's cheaper....not sure about the gains over stock....but I heard it's really restrictive compared to Greddy or Cattman/Mossy.......But for the price ($440 shipped iirc?) you can't go wrong as opposed to Cattman's almost $600 exhaust....

btw if you want performance out of your car...you should just save your money and get yourself a bpipe+intake....a full catback including muffler is pretty damn expensive and will yield only 1-2hp over just a bpipe alone....

Tight sig Van. This topic has been wildly discussed for weeks. All you have to do is read one of the threads.

?? Cattman's exhaust doesn't cost 600...their Headers alone cost almost that much. The entire catback system costs 600, and that's including mid-pipe, muffler and cat. The muffler itself is $350 and gains more than the Franken.

So a b pipe will give good gains for the 5.5 gen? What is the best b pipe?

Once again, Cattman.

That's not true. Without the proper components, you'll never gain much. Once your entire piping system is done and you tune with the SAFCII, you're looking at picking up roughly 40-45HP (35 to the wheels, perhaps...could even be more) when it's all said and done -- this is including every pipe bolt-on. Just a muffler won't give you a big gain because everything else on the car is stock and restrictive when compared to the muffler.

00-03 Nissan Maxima

Which cattman b pipe does the 02-03 need?

Well it depends. If you want to re-route your O2 sensors, go for the dual port. If you don't, then go for the regular. Personally, I'd go for the dual because if you purchase headers or even just the y-pipe, you'll probably need that extra port, because you will have to re-route the O2.

I'm searching and I don't seeing any dyno's or proven gains with just a intake and b pipe.

I dunno where you're getting your sources from....but last time I checked, Cattman headers were $825+...nowhere near $600.....

what are you talking about? it does cost $600...just ask anybody...even go on the cattman website....and I know for myself becuz I bought my damn exhaust from him directly for that price....

Yeah it costs $600...just without the high flow cat thrown in there

obviously your going off topic....this thread is based on aftermarket exhausts....in order to gain 40whp headers must be thrown in there....and headers alone+installation will cost more than any aftermarket exhaust+intake out right now.....so that is why I suggested bpipe+intake and leave the stock muffler....cheap & effective route if you ask me....and u won't get in trouble by the police....and no this route is NOT CUTTING corners or TAKING short cuts out....one of the fastest 5.5 gens ran a stock muffler on his car....

or heck...just buy a freakin bpipe and leave your stock intake....if you think i'm going OT as well....all i have to say is....a bpipe is worth way more than what a muffler can do.....a bpipe is for HP....a muffler is primarily for sound....

Thanks for the dyno Steven, but I remember that there have been stock 5.5 Gens that dynoed over 205... at 211 or so.... do ya have one of the same car stock? I'm assuming no, if not you woulda posted it. 15 whp with those mods just seems kinda high to me.

No I don't have the same dyno of him when hes stock....also I don't have a hard time swallowing a 15whp gain with just i/bpipe.....we have high displacement motors....the better we breathe...the more hp we gain out of mods....i understand 15whp is high for a standard vq30....but I think it's perfectly fine with a vq35.....

heres the dyno of the gentlemen who dynoed 211whp stock on his 6spd...

Since U gonna have the car up in the air, might as well change out the stock manifolds to a set of HS headers, throw in a test pipe, and do a full Mossy catback....

I don't know alot about exhaust, what exactly is included in a catback. I just bought a magnaflow #14803, I might as well get everything else before I install it. Thinking about getting a bpipe, resonator, and y pipe at least. any suggestions would be appreciated

Cool... thanks....

I'm gonna see if I can find a dyno place nearby and might actually dyno with my intake/y-pipe/cat-back and then intake/cat-back to see what the numbers turn out to be... those are big IFs and MIGHTs though...

I think with your i/y/e you'll dyno over 220whp pretty easily....no need to dyno...just put your talk to the tracks or the street races

anyway I can understand why you believed 15whp was kind of high for just an i/bpipe setup....i've looked through some old threads of people posting their #'s on the dyno....and let me tell you...the #'s vary consideribly if you ask me....every car is just built differently....every dyno performs a little differently....temperatures, humidity....just everything! even your damn rims effect your HP #s! thats right...if you got some 20 inch chrome spinners don't plan on breaking any records...

Yeah, my bad. I totally misread what you wrote. But I'm pretty sure, last I checked the headers were going for $699. He's out of stock on them now, so you can't check. But I know a number of people who got them for around that much, if I recall.

Price on the exhaust is now 640 dollars, its going up. Headers if they ever become availible will probably be over 1K dollars.

I'm a big fan of the HKS rear section. Sounds very quiet and has dual outlets so it looks al ittle like the stock muffler on steroids.
