kev, kev, kev. havent u learned to do research on your competitors? celica gts' come in auto also. it's a 5 spd auto/manual like in the lexus gs.

on another note, my cousin just got a 2k silver gts 6 spd on saturday, and i look forward to racing him after he's broken in.

one last note, killing integ ls' is as easy as wiping your a*s.

Beware, I own a Y2K Max A/T (Auto Trans) with YPipe and CAI 15.65 ET's in Puerto Rico's hot weather my Son owns a Y2K Celica GTS 6 Speed with TRD Muffler and HyFlow Air Filter, He just simply wipes my *** easily specially at the top end.

hmm

celica gts is sooo much lighter than our hot max. We'll probably beat them in high end not at the beginning tho.

First, ever driven a Celica GT-S? Things don't move until 6000rpm. The maxima moves at 4000rpm.
Second, the celica isn't a drag racer. Nor is the maxima. BUT, the celica isn't a people hauler so, it doesn't need the low end torque like the Maxima does. Hence... two totally different vehicles, for two totally different reasons.
Three, try to race that celica on a road course, i guarentee he kicks the crap out of you and your maxima. Unless he can't drive.
Fourth, this is by no means a flame towards the guy who raced the celica. I would never race a celica cause the celica is not a car that was ever to have been thought of as being fast. Even if the guy was asking for it...I had a Supra that would kick the crap out of most cars in a drag race...when an idiot in a civic revved on me, i ignored and kept on driving, why would i brag about beating a civic with less cylinders, less hp, less... than my supra?
Race within the same league. Racing vs. v6s...that's a fair race...racing 4 cylinders that don't do well in 1/4miles...well, that's just retarded.

sorry...

Celica

I have never driven the new Celica GTS but drove a 91 GTS for almost 10 years...I loved that little car...true it had a pretty tame 2.2 and would not light up anyone off the start but it had decent midrange speed (60-80) and that sucker felt like it was on rails going around corners!

The first week I had my Max I almost totalled it by trying to take the corners I normally took in my Celica the same way... That was a wakeup call!

I'm actually not into dragging or racing or whatever...I do love the power of the V-6 Max and the room but I am seriously contemplating moving into a Celica GTS due to what I would call "slight" poor Nissan build quality (add a real heavy does of sarcasm) lol

Hy Keving, just for your info, the Celica GTS comes with Auto Trans and they are pretty slow. How's your Max, as I told you once you have one of the best looking car at the Web. Hey fans thats the Blue Max with the Aero Kit thats pumping gas at the station. Jose Ruiz "Pepo"

kev's max is sterling mist, not blue...

btw, even on the celica.net boards, the people say that the celica gt 5 spd could hang and possibly even take on the gts auto.

YOU MAKE A LOT OF VERY GOOD POINTS ,YES THE GT-S ONLY HAS 4 CYLINDERS AND LESS POWER BUT THE LITTLE THING YOU FORGOT WAS CALLED POWER TOO WEIGHT , NOW I RACED MY BROTHERS G60 VW (YES A 4 BANGER) WITH A TURBO,CAM AND A CHIP WITH MY 2K MAX , POWER WISE ABOUT THE SAME BUT WAIT THE VW IS LIGHTER BY 200 TO 300 POUNDS SO HE BEAT ME , SO NO, RACING (SOME) 4CYLS IS NOT RETARDED, HONDA HAS 200HP 4CYL PRELUDES MORE HP THAN SOME V6S , I RACED THE GT-S BECAUSE OF THE WRITTEN PERFORMANCE NUMBERS WHICH ARE CLOSE TO A 2K 5 SPEED OR SO I READ,AND SO THE MORAL OF THIS SPEECH IS DON'T UNDERESTEMATE 4 CYLS, UNLESS OF COURSE YOU OWN A CORVETTE OR TT 300ZX.

My point was... who are you gonna brag to and what are you you gonna brag about? Beating a weaker car that isn't in the same league? The celica's 180hp is what the Maxima puts to the ground. Yes, the celica's 2300-2400lbs is a good 800lbs lighter than a Maxima...but, it's two different cars. I'm not gonna go brag about beating a Geo Metro cause of it's power to weight ratio or about beating a civic si. I'm just saying, race something that has a chance. Race a Grand Prix SC or a Mustang.

On a lighter note, I beat two Firebird TA's, a dozen porsches (914, 944, boxster, etc), and a few others in an autoX event in my Maxima. It's all about driver baby!
